Mopar - D Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 I’m adding another dump truck to the Super Bee Trucking fleet. This one is going to be a Mack DM 600 with a steel hood. I’m using Gary Wallace resin kit for the steel hood change out. The dump body will be a Montone from the Autocar dump truck kit. Colors will be matching with the Super Bee fleet.
yh70 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 (edited) should look great Dan..Gary cast great parts.. Edited December 6, 2021 by yh70

Mopar - D Posted December 7, 2021 Author Posted December 7, 2021 Started on the frame by adding 25 scale inches to it.
Mopar - D Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 Pretty much finished with the frame and wheels for now. I’ve ordered some new tires for the rear from Moluminum. I’m also using front floatation tires I picked up on eBay. Here’s my mock up pictures.
gotnitro? Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 You've really taken this build to another level! Those large floats look good on there. Swapping hoods really changes the appearance of the DM , much more of a working truck imo
Oldmopars Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 Very cool, I love this idea. I started a similar build a month ago using a DM800 steel hood shortened and mated to a R685ST cab on the DM800 frame. I will be watching yours as I build mine.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Looks great so far! I have one of these planned, but if I don’t get back to building I will never get anything else done.

I’m thinking about adding one of these to the Super Bee Transit Mixing fleet with the Challenge mix. On 12/9/2021 at 11:38 AM, Oldmopars said: Very cool, I love this idea. I’m watching your build mine is a little easier using Gary’s resin parts. On 12/9/2021 at 7:32 PM, DRIPTROIT 71 said: Looks great so far! Mopar - D Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 (edited) I’ve been working on the engine and spraying the cab yellow. Also just a little mock up with the dump body from the other Mack Edited December 13, 2021 by Mopar - D
gotnitro? Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Now there's a mockup ! That dump box looks great on the steel hood mack. Did you modify the camelback span on this build ? Heard they have an excessive span out of the box . Yours doesn't look that wide .
Mopar - D Posted December 13, 2021 Author Posted December 13, 2021 Thanks Jeff. Yes I moved the axles in about a 1/4” to close up the big gap. I did the same with my other one to.
steveracer Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Looking great! I love conversions like this. I built a balsa cab over Pete when I was a kit because I saw it in Car Modeler magazine...these type of projects remind me of the fun of getting out of my wheelhouse that I never do anymore. So I am living vicariously through watching fun builds like yours!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 This is a TRUCK!! I like everything about this one!! Looks great!!
Bronzekeg Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 one tough looking truck that is turning out great. keep up the good work Dan.

Mopar - D Posted December 17, 2021 Author Posted December 17, 2021 I’ve been doing some more spray painting. I had some issues with the black paint staying on the resin parts. I must not of removed all the mold release. After stripping and repainting I’m good now. Working on the clear coats. Besides that I’ve finished the interior and starting on the dump body.

Mopar - D Posted December 20, 2021 Author Posted December 20, 2021 I’ve started working on the dump body and almost finished with it now. Also worked on the front grill adding a little chrome to it. I’m going to have to redo the hood sections. Thanks everyone for your comments I appreciate them.
