Mike C. Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Guess it's time to start a thread on this one. Went old school on the chevy orange for the engine. Also,on the bed, I'm not sure what those weird scribe lines are supposed to be but they are no picnic to try to eliminate. Some filler followed by sanding and sanding.........
Can-Con Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Mike, if this video works, it explains the bed doors at about 5 minutes into the video.
Mike C. Posted December 6, 2021 Author Posted December 6, 2021 Thanks Steve. That would have driven me nuts ?. I didn't watch enough fall guy back in the day to know that one. I do remember that these kits were based on the fall guy truck. I'm definitely going with that same tan interior on this build.
Smoke Wagon Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Looking good so far. Did your kit have a weird notch in a cab corner like my copy does?
Mike C. Posted December 6, 2021 Author Posted December 6, 2021 I didn't notice any irregularities with the cab in my copy. I'm working with an earlier one (AMT) and a more recent one (MPC) but they are basically the same model. The AMT is cast in grey wile the MPC is cast in white.
Mike C. Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 Well this it the orange I ended up going with . I just shot the cab wit clear. The rest of the parts are still being painted. 1
Mike C. Posted December 8, 2021 Author Posted December 8, 2021 Orange parts finished. Preping chassis and interior for paint now. Might go black but I still have a lot of that sandalwood that I used on the big game truck left. ?
Mike C. Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 That air cleaner is a little plain looking but these finned valve covers bring a little gingerbread to the party.

They all have that notch for whatever reason. Just fill it in with styrene. I literally just did it on an '82 Chevy I'm working on.
Mike C. Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 I think those are so you can get the interior tub in after it is finished.
Mike C. Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 At first I didn't realize that you could order a black interior for these years but I really like this color. It's enamel so it takes a little longer to cure.
Mike C. Posted December 9, 2021 Author Posted December 9, 2021 Decided to go a different route with the wheel/tire combo. Saving the Aoshima set for another project.
Zippi Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Nice work on your 84 pickup so far. I like the orange. I think Tamiya also makes a Competition Orange that I haven't tried yet.
Mike C. Posted December 10, 2021 Author Posted December 10, 2021 (edited) Thanks guys! I really like the way this paint works so I'm sticking with it. In fact I'm gonna try to go lacquer all of the time. Gotta thank Casey for those 5 spokes. Edited December 10, 2021 by Mike C.
espo Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 You mentioned that you thought the Air Cleaner was a little plain looking. If it fits your build consider chroming the air cleaner lid or even the whole thing.

I can still use the Molotow pen if I loose that much sleep over it.
Mike C. Posted August 6, 2022 Author Posted August 6, 2022 (edited) This one has been stalled for some months now. Might as well start it up again. Edited August 6, 2022 by Mike C. Fegettaboutit
Mike C. Posted August 9, 2022 Author Posted August 9, 2022 I'm pretty sure I have everything painted, now comes the final assembly.
Street Rod Posted August 12, 2022 Posted August 12, 2022 Looking good! Like those square body Chevy/GMC trucks.

Mike C. Posted August 13, 2022 Author Posted August 13, 2022 Might have to go back and retouch that tailgate trim. ?
Mike C. Posted August 15, 2022 Author Posted August 15, 2022 (edited) Slowly coming down the home stretch. Barring any unforeseen complications, this project should be under glass any day now. Edited August 15, 2022 by Mike C.
Mike C. Posted August 15, 2022 Author Posted August 15, 2022 I'm finding it difficult to describe how much trouble this single light gave me. I practically had to hold it for the entire time it took for the Glue to dry. Not looking forward to the other one. Got the ones on the brush gurd done. A few more things to go!
Mike C. Posted August 15, 2022 Author Posted August 15, 2022 Man! That 4 pice exhaust was no picnic gluing on. Couldn't get it perfect so it's stYing like that.
