tbill Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 So, some buddies and I are going to do our version of the 24 hours of Daytona 24 hour build again this year, I’m going to do the revell snap KW kit this year, did the snap Pete last year. Wanted to start a thread so once I start Saturday at noon, I can just hop on here and post my progress. I know some of you fellas kinda followed my build last year, so, if you’re bored this weekend, check in often, I should have a lot going on in a short time, haha! here’s a few pics of last years build, total time was about 12 hours to finish it.
yh70 Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 nice build..i have built them in a few days but not in 12 hrs..ill be watching..
Jhedir6 Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Are you a part of the FB group doing this build Tom? You build from last year looks stellar. Good luck this weekend.
Mopar - D Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 I’ll be following along Tom. That’s 12 noon Eastern time?
tbill Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 Not on Facebook, that’s why some buddies are doing it as well, we kinda use the same rule structure. Dan, yes, noon eastern time, should be fun
steveracer Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 this is a nice idea. What are your rules for painting and such? I have this kit....thinking, but not likely I can join in. Just curious.
tbill Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 Pretty much the rules as we use them is, at noon you crack open the kit and build like mad until noon Sunday . As to the painting, I use lacquer paint and a dehydrator to speed up the cure time. The rig I pictured above I think too 2-3 hours to prime and two tone the paint using the dehydrator. Even if you don’t finish, give it a try, it’s a fun little distraction for a weekend.
Dutzie Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 The colors look great together! Fantastic job in such little time.
tbill Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Thanks guys. This is this years attempt, will do it close to box art. Will post some pics of the opening carnage shortly after noon tomorrow, haha…..
tbill Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) And we are off….., I guess this pile of stuff is gonna make a model eventually, haha! Edited January 29, 2022 by tbill Added info
tbill Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Bit of a hiccup in the process, my area is experiencing a power outage, so, progress has come to a screeching halt…… as soon as power comes back on, I will be back at it……
Mopar - D Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Looks awesome so far Tom. I’m hoping that you get your power back quickly.
tbill Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Hey guys, back on track, luckily power outage only lasted about an hour ( thank goodness). Got a bit more done, still making good time.
Mopar - D Posted January 30, 2022 Posted January 30, 2022 Coming along great Tom your engine and interior look great. At the rate your building looks like you will be able to get some sleep tonight.
