Mike C. Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 Has any company ever come out with a vintage Baja Bug kit. Are the too rare now?
webestang Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 This company still makes kits.... https://markvfiberglass.com/baja-kits/

Mike C. Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 the last post on that thread was back in 2015. I'm guessing I'm a little late for that party. ☹️
Mike C. Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 Maybe Revell will re issue their Baja racer valvoline bug someday. ?

Email is listed in the thread if you read it, and that's been the only way to contact them since forever. Edited January 28, 2022 by Ace-Garageguy

This one's pricey, but stuff shows up all the time. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203708077406?hash=item2f6df2955e:g:bn4AAOSwYVRhkiR2 Have you tried to contact Replicas and Miniatures? He's still in business, though he's had some down-time recently due to illness. Still, it's worth the effort and the wait, as his parts are about the best in the biz. ReplMinCOMD@AOL.com

ReplMinCOMD@AOL.com That's way past what I'm willing to pay. I just bought my quota of high dollar vintage kit for the year with that 1/16 Chevy pickup. It seems like just about every aftermarket company is shut down temporarily for some reason or another right now.

One more time...have you tried to contact Rep Min? His kit used to sell for about $35, you supply the donor guts from any Bug kit.

Casey Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 https://www.ebay.com/itm/224741259005?hash=item34539f76fd:g:9zIAAOSwDsFhaD19
Mike C. Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 I saw that one. I could buy a 1:1 of that for that much (maybe 30 years ago). ?
Mike C. Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 Of course it's in Japan. Like all the good motorcycle models.
Mark Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 The Revell kit was last out about twenty years ago, along with a couple other kits, in a "post-apocalyptic" series. It might have been called "Killer Bee" or something similar. The old Revell Beetle kits are so-so; the sedan versions don't even have inner door panels for the interior. I'd go for the resin conversion, and find a better Beetle kit to start with.
stitchdup Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 theres a 3d resin print body and wheels for the tamiya bug available. Its got the lights on the hood instead of the fenders. the seller i got one from is called arm2017 and is in france but I've seen the same print from various of the 3d print guys
Mike C. Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 I sent them the email but somethin is wacky with my phone email and It seems like I'm not getting any emails. Gotta get my niece to look at it this weekend if I don't get snowed in tomorrow. These millenials know electronics.
Brian Austin Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 Tamiya also made a plastic body kit in 1:10 scale in their R/C line. ?
Daddyfink Posted January 29, 2022 Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) Last version to be done was in 2001. More here.... Edited January 29, 2022 by Daddyfink

If thats what the Revell kits front end looked like than count me out. I could make that out of a regular VW kit and a Dremel with a cutoff wheel. No wonder Revell only shows the rear of the bug on most of the box art. I'm looking for more of the wide eyed type of front end.
