crowe-t Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 (edited) I wasn't happy with the way the rear bars of the roll cage looked and the lack of space between the wheel tubs. Today I widened the space between the wheel tubs and started changing the rear of the roll cage. The kit's rear bars of the roll cage looked too stylish and not enough like a real car. I still have to finish adding some rods. I used 2 mm rod. The diameter is slightly larger than the kit's roll cage but once it's painted they should blend in. The white styrene is making the diameter appear larger than it looks in person. Edited February 12, 2022 by crowe-t

crowe-t Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) I had attached a picture of this Pro Street Beretta in an earlier post. I found this other picture of a Beretta that I'm starting to think is the same car. It has the same ground effects and wheels. Maybe this car was converted from a race car to Pro Street. The roll cage even looks the same and is also the body color. I thought this was interesting. Edited February 14, 2022 by crowe-t
NYLIBUD Posted February 13, 2022 Posted February 13, 2022 Coming along great. Can’t wait to see it all done.? 1
chris chabre Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Looks awesome! Are you gonna remove some of that firewall tunnel since the engine isnt so far back now?

Are you gonna remove some of that firewall tunnel since the engine isnt so far back now? Hay thanks! I'm not sure. I'd have to close some of it up and come up with a way to blend the transmission tunnel into it. I've already gone much further with the modifications than I had planned. This was supposed to be mostly out of box but I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'll think about it. Edited February 14, 2022 by crowe-t

Zippi Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Coming along nicely. I like the Pro Street look. 1
dragcarz Posted February 15, 2022 Posted February 15, 2022 Wow I love what your doing here, a much more realistic and accurate approach to this kit. Really good stance. Your doing excellent work on this kit!
slusher Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 Some great building your doing on your Beretta build!
crowe-t Posted February 17, 2022 Author Posted February 17, 2022 Hey thanks guys! I'll get some more pictures posted in a day or so. I've been doing more work but haven't taken any pictures yet.
crowe-t Posted February 18, 2022 Author Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) I decided to remove the large tunnel on the interior side of the firewall. I cut a piece of a transmission tunnel from an AMT '66 Nova parts kit and attached it to the front of the Beretta's transmission tunnel. It doesn't look like a van's interior anymore. lol The front of the Beretta's transmission tunnel looked like an interior engine cover in a van. The Beretta's transmission tunnel is a bit high but I think I'll leave it. The dash board is almost done and I added some more bars to the roll cage. There's still more to add. Now I have to decide what to do with the underside floor. The kit has it represented as a belly pan covering the chassis. I might leave the belly pan but I'm considering sanding it down to get the center raised section off and adding some 2 mm half round rods to the bottom to look like chassis rails. Then I would remove the center to show the transmission and drive shaft. What do you all think? Edited February 18, 2022 by crowe-t
chris chabre Posted February 19, 2022 Posted February 19, 2022 much better without the dog house in there!!! I like the belly pan, but thats the land speed racer in me haha 1

crowe-t Posted February 23, 2022 Author Posted February 23, 2022 After hours of working with the kit's hood I gave up and made one. The kit's hood had the area where the original scoop was that needed to be filled in and I added a piece to the rear to stretch it. I also filed it down to flatten it a bit and it became a mess. lol I cut the front off the kit's hood and attached it to 1 mm sheet styrene. I bent the styrene at the sides a bit and did some shaping with a sanding stick. On the underside I glued in a curved support made from 1.5 mm sheet styrene to hold the shape. The kit's hood is a bit too curvy even for a stock Beretta. I wanted the hood to resemble a fiberglass stretched hood which are even flatter than a stock Beretta hood. This hood I made still has some curve to it.

The kit's hood needed too much work. I'll work on the ground effects and I might sand down the belly pan and put some half round rods on to resemble a real tube chassis. I'll get some more pictures posted soon.
crowe-t Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) I got some more work done on the Beretta. I installed the ground effects on the body. It really gives it a different look. I wasn't sure I'd like it but it's growing on me. I made the rear fender flares with Epoxy Sculpt. They stick out a little more then the ground effects on the 1:1 Beretta that I posted pictures of. The Revell Beretta body isn't 100% accurate. I compared it to an MPC Beretta body and the MPC's lower body is less curved. Due to the curve of the Revell body in order to make the flares look right they have to stick out a bit more than the running boards. I did some more work on the wheel tubs. I widened them a bit to meet with the body and added the trunk divider. Otherwise there was a space that you could see into the trunk area. I removed the area under the rear bumper. This kit had it wrap under which isn't correct. I had to add a piece to the floor but I think it looks better now. I also closed off the opening under the front bumper. crowe-t Posted March 3, 2022 Author Posted March 3, 2022 Thanks Ron! I can't wait to start getting some paint on it. I did some more work today and will post pictures later or tomorrow.
chris chabre Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 takes me right back to my days of drooling over 90s era prostreet cars! Cant wait to see more Mike!

Thanks Chris! I'm really enjoying building this one. I have always loved the Beretta's as drag cars and Pro Street cars. This Beretta Pro Street build is sort of a 3rd attempt. A while ago I had started building a Revell kit as a Super Gas car. I stretched the nose, widened the rear wheel openings... At the same time I did the same modifications to an MPC Beretta body. The MPC kit is going to be the Reher Morrison Levi Garrett Pro Stock Beretta that I had planned on getting back to later on. In both cases I was stopped at the hoods. Both the hoods got badly warped. I do plan on getting back to them. This current Pro Street build wasn't planned this way. I was going to build it mostly box stock but I'm having so much fun I keep making changes as I go. I think I finally got a handle on how to make the hood. Last week I cut the front off the kit's hood and made the rest out of sheet styrene and it finally worked. I think I'm over that hurdle. lol I attached pictures of the other 2 Beretta's. I can't wait to get back to those. 1
