I’m bringing the 1/12 Ferrari P4 and the 1/12 cobra and a few 1/8 stuff. The cobra, Supersnake and the ford GT if I get the parts on time. Cannot wait! Oh and thank you Chris.
Brudda Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 My buddy Mark 3D printed some hood rivets for me.
Brudda Posted February 20, 2022 Author Posted February 20, 2022 The seats are really stitched and are padded. Super cool. The seat belts are really good also. Dash and instruments came out super also. Agora did a great job on these. Building this out of box is good but if you add your own skills and detail, this will be the center piece of the model room. 1

Brudda Posted February 25, 2022 Author Posted February 25, 2022 Assembled the rear trunk area. This is where all the wiring and the pc board is enclosed. The car has lights, brake lights when the brake pedal is pressed. Sound card for horn and engine sound. On the super snake the sound card is bad. I hope the cobra is better. Mocked up the windshield frame and rollbar. Going to paint the bottom of the windshield frame , black to make it look like the weather strip. I painted the rollbar black. Was chrome. Starting to come together. Not much more to go. 3

Of all the 1/8 scale kits. This one is ( in my humble opinion) the best. It’s a lot of money that’s for sure , but if you buy one 1/8 kit. This is the one. I’ve noticed that this car is copied after a continuation Shelby cobra. That is not bad at all, but I have noticed the brake pedals have a ( CS) logo on them , not AC. and the valve covers are black with Shelby on them. The original were chrome with the 427 decal on the cover. But that’s it. The model kit is very well engineered. I’m really impressed with the frame. WOW. Hats off to Agora for the frame. The body seems correct. Interior is very good. Oh , the car has a dash plate , like the continuation cars. The original did not have that. I’m being picky I guess, but if you spend this kind of money, you want to know what your getting. You are the expert on cobras and I believe you will really like this. Some things are simple but you can add any amount of extra detail if you want. I’m glad I did the mfh kit because it gave me a chance to look and see if agora was in the ballpark. This kit is easy to assemble, instructions are very clear. Bill is correct on the distributer. Needs a little help, and the side exhaust needs some attention also. Overall this is a excellent model with all the fun, without the insanity of a mfh kit. I believe you will be very impressed with this kit. I know it’s really expensive but you only live once. It will be finished in a few weeks. I set the rollbar and windshield frame on the body to see what it will look like. 2
Brudda Posted February 27, 2022 Author Posted February 27, 2022 Putting the doors on and dash. The windshield frame was painted silver. I stripped the silver and sanded and sanded and sanded then polished the metal. Looks acceptable now. 1

MrObsessive Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 The polished windshield frame looks great Bruce! I was gonna do that on mine, but I didn't want to lose the plastic retainers that hold the vent windows in place. I dunno why Agora did it that way, but I get their wanting to keep this as drama free as possible when it comes to building. It was a must for me to strip the wheels on DeAgostini's Shelby Mustang wheels. They did the same thing...............painted them silver. UGGGH! I stripped those and polished 'em up so they look more like chrome than painted wheels.

Without all of the visiors and wind deflectors . I really recommend this area to be left alone. I spent 6 hours after it was stripped to get the finish I wanted. When I did this the windshield did not snap in like it should. This was another pain I created. This is why I recommend to leave the windshield frame alone. Build it as Bill did. Bill , what did you use to strip the wheels on your Shelby GT 500? And the polish you used? I’m thinking of buying the tires and wheels for the supersnake. It is a option, but those wheels need help. And have to bring the white paint for the tire lettering. Thank you for the help on this car. Your build reviews really helped and it’s making life a lot easier with this build. I’m also watching out for the wiring on this. Holy cow! There is a lot of wires. And you are right on flipping this car upside down. You do it a lot. Thanks for the help. 1
cobraman Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 That is a looker for sure. I'm still trying to talk myself into forking out that much coin on one kit. I really would go with the all at one time payment. In the meantime I will just enjoy yours. ? 1
MrObsessive Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Bruce, I remember using a combination of Acetone and Lacquer thinner to strip the wheels. I think the Acetone worked a bit better as there were instances where the other thinner barely stripped away at the paint. I guess it depends on what type they were using on any given day when that kit was being made. I polished them up with successive grits of polishing cloths. To get the initial roughness out of the wheels, I started with 600 grit----all the way to 12,000 to get them to shine up like chrome. Get set to keep cleaning your cloths! It's a dirty job as you're wearing away the diecast metal like dust. For the lettering on the tires, I simply used Tamiya's acrylic white and painted each letter one by one by hand. Yes----of all the 1/8 kits I've done so far, that one was the most intense with all the wires! ? All I can say is it wouldn't hurt to keep checking where the wires are when you're attaching the body to the chassis. There's so many that it wouldn't take much to pinch one under a screw, and then something might not work such as one of the lights. Thanks for the nice words! I surely hope the mystery car that Agora keeps showing under cover on their site is in fact the Shelby Daytona Coupe. That one will be a MUST BUY if indeed it is that car. MrObsessive Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 I want to add Bruce that if you haven't done so yet, and I don't know if you've gotten this far, you may want to partially insert that pin that goes in the collar for the one shaft of the steering column. Like the 1:1, there's two shafts with a collar that connects both of them so the steering will work with the steering wheel. You have to position the shaft with the collar through a split in the headers (like the real car) and connect those two shafts by squeezing the pin through the collar with some needle nose pliers. I can't remember which shaft it was, but I think the shaft that comes off the steering box has a U-joint on it. Once again, just like the real thing. It's a tricky step, and it's one of those things you don't see until you're almost the point of buttoning everything down as Agora doesn't mention it UNTIL you're at that point. If you miss it, you'll have to disassemble everything to get to it. As I've mentioned, there were some hair raising steps to building this! 1
Brudda Posted February 28, 2022 Author Posted February 28, 2022 Thank you Bill. Every thing helps. Mating the chassis to the frame was exciting. About 95% finished. Will finish it up next week, I hope. 2
