Mark Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 It's the AMT dragster chassis, same one as in the wedge body kits. 1 Quote
stavanzer Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Ah, thanks. Just no wedge parts in this one. Quote
Mark Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Front part of the body may differ in some way also. I actually have an original issue of this one, so I'll be passing on the reissue even though it will have a way better decal sheet included. Quote
deuces wild Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Looks close to the Don Garlits first rear engine dragster.... Maybe!...? Quote
Mark Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Woody Gilmore frame, same as in the Tommy Ivo dragster which was likely the first one planned, with other releases thrown in to maximize use of the tooling. Garlits usually built the frames he used, but not always. If I remember right, in his book he mentioned buying the ex-Jungle Jim dragster that the Attebury Brothers had built and (briefly) campaigned with JJ's name on it. 1 Quote
Bainford Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 It continues to amaze me when kits show up that I never knew existed. 1 Quote

Fitzy Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 (edited) Sweet! I just watched the Round 2 releases for May should see it soon. Edited May 1, 2022 by Fitzy Quote
stavanzer Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 For those who have never seen this kit, here are the directions for it. Not going to be many parts in the box, really. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-copperhead-/?view=roll Quote
stavanzer Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Same Frame in the Sand Dragon Dragster. The instructiions in the Sand Dragon, might show how to assemble the frame more clearly. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-sand-dragon-san/?view=roll#1 And it is in Both TV Tommy Ivo kits. Both the Streamliner and Conventional Rear engine kits. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amt-tommy-ivo-strea/?view=roll#1 https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/amt-instructions/straightline-competition/amttommyivonewreare/?view=roll#1 And Here is the MPC Don Garlits "Swamp Rat 1-R" Dragster. Looks like the frames are a close match, in real life, but AMT and MPC tooled them differently. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/straightline-competition/mpc-don-garlits-rea/?view=roll#1 Quote
