cheyenne93 Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Anyone know if there are any of these in resin out there? Was asked by a friends wife if I could build one of her hubbies 1:1. Trying to find one. Thanks
Fat Brian Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 There's a 75 Chevelle NASCAR kit but it has the slanted Laguna nose.
Bainford Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 (edited) Could the Revell '77 Chevelle be converted? edit: Reading Marks answer below, I realise Revell didn't do a '77 Chevelle, it was a Monte, so scratch that. Edited February 8, 2022 by Bainford
Mark Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 There is a Revell '77 Monte Carlo, but that's way different from a Malibu. Not one piece of sheet metal shared between the two.
Mark Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Showroom stock conversions of the MPC NASCAR kit (and the AMT Malibu, which is an earlier one) seldom look right, as the roofs on both bodies are altered quite a bit, and seldom corrected in the course of bringing them "back to stock".
cheyenne93 Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 I knew it wasn't going to be an easy or cheap find. That's why I told her, she might better let him buy an older chevelle, then have me build one of that. Glad she's got a sense of humor.?
espo Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 One possible source for a Chevelle body would be one of the old "Days of Thunder" series offered by AMT. The big problem would be finding one since to my knowledge they have not been reissued and when last I checked they were wanting a king's ransom for one. They were issued to represent the race cars in the movie and had only a basic race car interior.
Mark Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 The movie cars were Luminas (not Malibus) and were made by Monogram (not AMT).
