Has anybody put a 1/43 car next to a 1/25 car to compare relative size? I don’t have the kit on hand yet, but I got the idea to turn an AMT 1/43 ‘48 Ford into a 1/25 scale pedal car.

To give yourself an idea of how it will scale, as a rule of thumb you can use a metric tape and each mm will equal 1 inch at full size for a 1/25 scale comparison. This will ballpark it for something that small. Example: Body length of my 1/43 AMX model is 110mm,  means a full size vehicle of 110 inches, or 9-ft.,2-inches in 1/25. Too big for a pedal car, I'm afraid.

It would be a huge pedal car.

At 1/43, it would be over 1/2 the size of a 1/25 car. Somewhere over 7 and 1/2 feet in real life

I hadn’t thought of that, neat method and thank you.

Hey I remember those! That guy in the Southwest who creates dwarf cars. I learned about him a couple of years ago, if I recall correctly, a refrigerator was the starting point on his first build.

Thinking without doing any calculations Matchbox or Hot Wheels models (around 1:64) would probably be better for making a 1:25 scale pedal car.

Got my 1:43 Ford in the mail today. You guys are correct, it is just over half the length of a 1:25 car. Not big enough to be a dwarf car, but not small enough to be a pedal car. Included in the photos is the Revell 1:25 ‘48 Ford convertible for scale reference.1F65EB6C-F8E1-4854-B676-3014C7488C35.jpeg.740fcf579fc823e18275114fcb585fcb.jpeg821B3903-8BAA-4A09-A646-8454DF848C75.thumb.jpeg.fd543c465ba236b1176d037e3e6f7f55.jpeg23C76786-58D4-422A-B1DB-89C09636A880.thumb.jpeg.bd1f8e0753fb68304700ac1d802a1418.jpeg70CC7AEC-7D3F-4C62-9786-330432DFD3C0.thumb.jpeg.81b31a7511ee2f423b23895c245f3694.jpeg

It doesn’t quite fit into a pickup bed either.

There were some resin cast pedal cars produced in the late '80s/early '90s, too, so those might be worth seeking out.
