Smoke Wagon Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Has anybody put a 1/43 car next to a 1/25 car to compare relative size? I don’t have the kit on hand yet, but I got the idea to turn an AMT 1/43 ‘48 Ford into a 1/25 scale pedal car.
bisc63 Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 To give yourself an idea of how it will scale, as a rule of thumb you can use a metric tape and each mm will equal 1 inch at full size for a 1/25 scale comparison. This will ballpark it for something that small. Example: Body length of my 1/43 AMX model is 110mm, means a full size vehicle of 110 inches, or 9-ft.,2-inches in 1/25. Too big for a pedal car, I'm afraid.
Can-Con Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 (edited) It would be a huge pedal car. At 1/43, it would be over 1/2 the size of a 1/25 car. Somewhere over 7 and 1/2 feet in real life Something like this,, Edited February 20, 2022 by Can-Con

I learned about him a couple of years ago, if I recall correctly, a refrigerator was the starting point on his first build.

peteski Posted February 20, 2022 Posted February 20, 2022 Thinking without doing any calculations Matchbox or Hot Wheels models (around 1:64) would probably be better for making a 1:25 scale pedal car.
Phirewriter Posted February 21, 2022 Posted February 21, 2022 Hot Wheels as a matter of fact make this...
bytownshaker Posted February 26, 2022 Posted February 26, 2022 Check out the train dept at your local hobby shop for HO scale (1/87 I believe ) cars. They are approx 1/2 to 1 inch long.
Smoke Wagon Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 Got my 1:43 Ford in the mail today. You guys are correct, it is just over half the length of a 1:25 car. Not big enough to be a dwarf car, but not small enough to be a pedal car. Included in the photos is the Revell 1:25 ‘48 Ford convertible for scale reference. It doesn’t quite fit into a pickup bed either.
peteski Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 For a 1:25 dwarf car a 1:32 scale model would likely be the right size.
bytownshaker Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 Here's a Comparison of 1/24? Ferrari GTO diecast and a 1/43 and 1/87 (HO Herpa) Ferrari F40's.
Casey Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 There were some resin cast pedal cars produced in the late '80s/early '90s, too, so those might be worth seeking out.
