conchan Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 This is my third kit after returning. I am enjoying building the kits though my technical skills are far from most that I’ve seen showcased here. Each kit I try something new. This kit I tried to do a wood grain on the steering wheel, console and back seat area. Need to be apply the “grains” in smaller doses, I think. As Bare Metal Foil doesn’t exist anywhere I can find in Japan, I found some 1mm Molotow Chrome pens and had a b**ch of a time with them. The results when the pen worked were amazing and awesome, unfortunately it didn’t work for long. The rear emblem is a mess and I didn’t even try the front one. Oh well, there is always next time. I don’t know if I’m making any improvement in my builds but I am enjoying them immensely. Stay safe and enjoy! P.S Sorry for all the photos. 2
espo Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 Great looking paint finish and color. Nice looking interior and the convertible top and the rear window finishes look very realistic.

ea0863 Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 I think you nailed the color choices - who would have thought cranberry red and sky blue would work so well together!

Thanks! The colour choices were Yuko's so I can't accept any credit for that, but I do agree that they go together well. Stay safe and enjoy!
spencer1984 Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Looks good, nice to see one of these built up. I have one to be started (hopefully) soon.
Gluebomber Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Good looking build, Conrad. I noticed the wood grain on the steering wheel and console right away. Can you describe how you did it? Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Bainford Posted March 29, 2022 Posted March 29, 2022 Nice Merc. Great colour, and nice, smooth paint. Such a classy ride.

(By the way this forum is awesome) Basically I painted a dark brown (Tamiya X-9), then tried to dry brush some lighter colors over that, (Tamiya X-3 & XF-15) finally I covered it all in clear orange (Tamiya X-26). I am sure there are more woody colours available, but I didn’t feel like spending money so just used what I had. Thanks again. Stay safe and enjoy!
