Saltie Olds Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 (edited) Here’s my next big rig build. I’m going to be stretching the frame on the Papa Truck to accept the W900 cab and nose. I’ll also use the Papa Truck cab to stretch the sleeper, on the W900. More than likely, I won’t be using the side skirts going down the sides of the truck. It’ll be painted all black and maybe some dark gray. Edited May 26, 2022 by Saltie Olds To rename the project, now that I know I’ll be doing a model of another model to go with it.
Saltie Olds Posted May 16, 2022 Author Posted May 16, 2022 Here’s a picture of the wheel & tire package I’m using on this build.
Saltie Olds Posted May 16, 2022 Author Posted May 16, 2022 Have a start on the sleeper. I’m going to use the Papa Truck cab to fill in the gap in the roof area and delete both of those things, in the middle of the roof. 2

I’ll have to measure it to find out how long it is, I’m guessing it’s about a 120” sleeper. This one is also a really fun build. I got one idea on building it, because of wanting to know what the Papa/Hideout trucks would look like as a conventional and the sleeper idea for another build I’m wanting to do. I’m wanting to do the first generation ‘87 to whenever was built of the KW T800.
Saltie Olds Posted May 19, 2022 Author Posted May 19, 2022 I just measured the sleeper on this truck. It’s 4.535” long. That translates to 113.375”. I’m thinking that I’ll just say that it has a 112” sleeper. Or maybe a 112” or 113” studio sleeper, not sure right now. I do know that the chassis to this truck is about 18” long or so.
Saltie Olds Posted May 20, 2022 Author Posted May 20, 2022 I found out I had to stretch the floor pan as well. I got don’t sanding and smoothing everything out. I’m liking how everything is turning out so far. I have this chassis on the trailer, just to give an idea on how long it is.
Mopar - D Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 Wow that’s a long cab! Your sleeper looks good nice and smooth. You know that Hobby Lobby sells the Evergreen plan sheets of Polystyrene plastic in a couple different thicknesses. It might of been a little easier for filling up the gap on your sleeper.

Yah, that would have made it a lot easier, or if I had a third W900 Aerodyne cab. Thank You. I’m having a lot of fun with this one, as well.
Saltie Olds Posted May 21, 2022 Author Posted May 21, 2022 Here’s what I’ve gotten done on my truck so far and a mock up of it. The next pictures I post of it will be with the completed drive train, but not sure if I’ll have the engine in or not.
Saltie Olds Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 I have the chassis done and the engine in. Now I just need to figure out how I’m going to do the drive shafts between the tranny and the front rear axle. 1
Saltie Olds Posted May 24, 2022 Author Posted May 24, 2022 Here’s a quick mock up of this build. When I started this build, I never really had a game plan for this build or how I wanted the end project to look. I’m just building it and figuring how I want things to look as I build. 2
Saltie Olds Posted May 25, 2022 Author Posted May 25, 2022 I’m trying to figure out what to do for a load on the back of this truck. I’ve also thought about using my W925 Logger to go with it. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Not sure, but I think those "things" on the top of the sleeper are clearance lights. Maybe the truckers in this group can say for sure.

David G. Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 Excellent progress on this one! That thing has a huge wheelbase! "Highway Use Only" as the saying goes. David G.
