S10man Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 The basic kit was the Monogram '30 Ford Woody. From the windshield back the body is all handmade using birch and maple, with multiple coats of shellac and clear lacquer. The tail gate is hinged and operable. It was a fun project which combined my woodworking interests with my modelling. Thanks for viewing.
mannyclub Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Sweet!! Awesome job on the wood work too very cool to see that when that is done! Manny
MonoPed Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 That's cool!! You and I took the same approach going over the rear fender with a single piece of wood. I wanted to splice four pieces together, but was afraid it would be too weak and break while finishing.

I tried a couple of different ways Brian, including steam bending and laminating, but they all ended up too weak as you mentioned. So I just bandsawed them out of solid stock.
peter31a Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Being a Model A fan, I just have to pipe in and say that is one beautiful Model A Woody. Love the wood work you did.
62rebel Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 simplicity in itself, at least to the eye! very nice build.
Sixties Sam Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Nice clean build! The wood work is excellent. Nice paint scheme, too! Sam
Gluhead Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Very cool. One of these days I want to do that with one of the 1/16 kits. And yep, I figured it'd take one piece on the fender frame, too.
PARTSMARTY Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 this flows!!-smooth as can be-congrats-it doesn't get any better!.

Greg Myers Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Maybe it's the new guy from Florida? You gonna tell him he can't respond to something that's old?
camaroman Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I'm glad it was brought current... I found it by doing a google search on the kit!!!
Agnaldo Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Beautiful assembly, perfect the Ford. Like the woods, give a very nice style. Congratulations. Hugs
Danno Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Nice work, but... not quite sure why this thread has been revived after 6 years. Or, in the alternative, ... why not?
