There were a lot of local drag strips here in Southern California before real estate became outrageously valuable and insurance for the track and property owners became outrageously expensive.

Expensive (and not so expensive) real estate developments near racing venues and small airports have ended most dragstrips, airstrips, and circle tracks in my area over the last decade or two.

Two times twenty minus four years ago, that's what eliminated Riverside International Raceway.
