OldTrucker Posted July 10, 2022 Posted July 10, 2022 Was looking at the barrels from the Ford C600 and the just looked wrong, looked terrible. Cut down the top and bottom to fit inside. Spent way too much time on one but the result was worth it! 4 more to go. LoL 5
NOBLNG Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Nice! The one on the left looks way better proportioned.? 1
Oldmopars Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 I too had an issue with those, so I made my own out of cooking tin aluminum. (Dollar store cooking pans) I laid out 2 pieces of wire, taped them to the cutting board. I then worked the aluminum over it to get the ribs. Then I wrapped it around a 1in diameter wooden dowel. Tops and bottom are just sheet styrene. Once done, I can smash, dent, crush, etc. to achieve what ever look I want from them. 5
peteski Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 They do seem to have much better proportions after you cut them down. But are they now the correct scale height? Also, it would make sense to me to use the modified barrel as a master pattern, then cast copies from resin. Only a simple 1-part open mold would be needed.

It scales out to 33-34 inches which is about right for a 55 gallon drum.
