WesleyOlin Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Hi im building a 1960 Corvett custom and i need to biuld a raer fender tub so i can install sum wider raer tyres and give it some sort of style
Oldcarfan27 Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 (edited) Use the chassis from the flip-front 57-60 Corvette kits. That should get you most of the way there. And if you have the MPC 60 Corvette - it's almost the same kit! Edited July 15, 2022 by Oldcarfan27
espo Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 I have used discarded pill bottles cut in half for the inner wheel tubs in the past. Another option would be to construct the tubs out of flat plastic stock and glue together. Just about any of the kits that have the Pro-Street style back half chassis will work the best if you have one or if someone will offer you one. 3
Mark Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 The flip-front MPC kits use the same chassis as the stock MPC '57 and '60, nothing to be gained by swapping chassis.
Greg Myers Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 orange pill bottles work great. the plastic is very similar to what's in the kit 2
Saltie Olds Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 I knew someone that would also use the caps from spray cans to tub out the rear of models. Sorry, I can’t get any details from him on any of his tricks about building models. He passed away about 10 years ago.
Zippi Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 I used pill bottles on my first attempt at turning a 56 Ford pickup into a Pro Street. The AMT 67 Chevelle Pro Street and AMT 66 Nova Pro Street chassis are used a lot under various kits. I used the 67 Chevelle chassis under the AMT 55 Chevy to Pro Street it. More than one way to skin a cat. I'm still learning myself.
Daryl Romain Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Yup. Pill bottles. This is a Revell '70 Cuda, but the technique is the same.
