keyser Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Looking at inventory of Hyman. Found this nice 32 Imperial. History pretty interesting, one owner saw the MPC kit and wanted 1:1. The car turned out to be the car MPC used to make the kit. Owned since 71. Neat kit of cool car. https://hymanltd.com/vehicles/6844-1932-chrysler-cl-imperial-convertible-sedan/ 1
Classicgas Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Beautiful car, but the MPC kit is a 2 door, that's a 4 door, so I don't see how it can be the car MPC used.

DanL Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Built the gangbusters version last year... actually a nice kit to build. Cheers
Monty Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 I was always intrigued by the amount of effort and engineering some companies (MPC & JoHan) put into these old classics while so many of their more modern car kits got promo-like chassis and mediocre engines. Made me wonder what it would have been like if they'd brought their "A" game to the rest of the line. ?
Mark Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 The annual kits were based on promotional models, so much of the parts breakdown for the kits was dictated by that. Besides, the kids buying them expected a lot of optional parts too. Same for the Trophy Series type kits...buyers wanted multiple building versions and the ability to customize so the basic kit was somewhat simplified. The Classic cars were aimed more at older builders who didn't care about extra parts, so the basic kit got more parts and more detail in places where you wouldn't necessarily see it.
