coopdad Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Awesome! Not sure how I feel about the Gulf livery... looks cool, then I remembered the British Racing Green... John
curt raitz Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 (edited) Cool looking ride, is kinda hard to look at an Aston Martin in Gulf colors though... the air intake nozzles remind one of the 'eye balls sittin' on a stash of cash' in the GEICO commercial... Edited January 28, 2009 by curt raitz
CAL Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 That is cool, but if they are not running a TDI they don't have chance.

Nick F40 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 That is SO COOL!!!!!!! I figured it was about time, even though it sounds like a rush of air going by these are fast, i'm not a HUGE fan of the TDI's but hey.....and I LOVE the Gul colors, long live them. The shape is most likely going to get more refined but... That is cool, but if they are not running a TDI they don't have chance. yes, it seems like..look at Audi winning...everything in LMP1.

Peugeot has won some in Europe against the Audis and has been the only car to challenge Audi at LeMans.
Roadkill2525 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Maybe the diesels will break down before the end of the race John Maybe France will win a war, I doubt the diesels would break.
Zoom Zoom Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Love the paint scheme. Looks cool to me in a sort of generic LMP1 way. Coming from a design background, that means it looks to my eyes a lot better than the generic Daytona Prototype shapes...not a sleight to anyone who likes that series, but it just hurts my eyes to look at pretty much any of the spec-shapes that any of the NASCAR-ized series foist on the racing public. It's as if they want their cars to look fugly
Brendan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 They've been planning to do this car for the past three years. It's kind of a surprise, though, that they are using their V-12 from the GT1 based car. Cause the way the rules are now, the GT1 based motors for Prototypes are severely handicapped from the new rules. They ran the Lola last year and it did quite well in qualifying which this car is going to be based off of but with a different front end. Kind of like what Pescarolo did with the Courage chassis. Both the Audi and Peugeot are going to be handicapped with the new rules. They're trying to make it a better balance between the gas powered and the diesel powered cars.
Nick F40 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 (edited) Chris, I know that, I was talking about ALMS. Peugeot, come to America! Wow, they probably hate that saying. Maybe France will win a war, I doubt the diesels would break. Well they have in WRC with Cirtoen and Peugeot France has dominated a lot aside from Italy with Lancia, still holding the most wins. Bob, I agree, they aren't the prettiest things but I still absolutly love the series, I do like the LMP Prototype cars better, they are more Prototype. I want GTP. They've been planning to do this car for the past three years. It's kind of a surprise, though, that they are using their V-12 from the GT1 based car. Is Pescarolo going to be running this year? I loved that car, the Aston Lola and I love that engine, especially when they had it in the DBR9. It had such a nice style, I just like Lolas. I think the handicapped engines are bringing more competitivness to the GT and even the LMP. I read that the rules said that for the diesels they were going to lower the boost, lower the anti lag system, which they have enough torque, and make the power come on a little after a and some other things to give the other petrol engines a better chance, but it doesn't surprise me that Aston Martin wanted to use this engine, for it was being in development for a couple years. They are reducing the performance on all classes for safety lower lap times LMP classes -10.5% performance reduction in diesels -Turbo pressure reduction (6.5%) and new rstrictors (2 x 37.9mm) will achieve this -10% restrictor reduction on LMP2, restrictors will have 0.3mm increase for cars with airco -The rear wing measures will be reduced (150mm vertical x 250mm horizontal x 1600mm transversal with 20mm minimum Gurney flap) I still like this one Allow only standard production engines in LMP2 (including GT2 engines) and the GT rules are actually sweet, to get more competittive, especially with Corvette in now, and to stop those dang Lizards from winning everything, so they made them less fatty in the rear and no I doubt those diesels will break!
