Bugatti Fan Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 (edited) Thomas. His website is named Unobtainium. He has a number of interesting things on there. I am not sure if the new Bugatti parts are listed yet on it, but you will be able to contact him by email. Have a look on the Britmodeller forum. I think he has showed what he is doing on there. A Bugatti search should find his posts and you may be able to send a PM to him from there. Noel Edited January 8, 2023 by Bugatti Fan
gordinir8 Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Hi there, I have made my own 3D printed fasteners and did a trial yesterday in a piece of plastic, I used very thin fishing line 0.13mm instead of wire and the look very scale. I am posting this for ref only since I am not a seller or have any relation with modelling products 1
Big John Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Fantastic build, wonderful job on the weathering it really brings out the details. I especially like the extremely detailed clutch mechanism!

gordinir8 Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 Well it is not easy, if you want to be precise it was to be done with a certain way but I think is a characteristic of this car that you can't avoid.
Bugatti Fan Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 I thought that perhaps those fasteners could be done in photo etched stainless steel in two parts each. The circular part with a hole in the middle to take the shaped outer piece with the lower part long enough to precisely go through the hole and into pre drilled holes in the car panels themselves. Once epoxied into place they might be stronger than 3D printed resin parts to take the wiring. Craft beading wire might be best as it is relatively soft.
gordinir8 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 You are talking for almost 240 tiny PE parts that has to be assembled and glued together!!...no sir, not for my nerves. Believe it or not I am not gentle with those little 3D nuts and haven't broke one, while turning the "wire" around it it's not an easy task, it's not just a turn around, it is almost different in any screw if you want to do it correct. I think PE will fail. 3D parts look fragile but are quite strong. I have designed mine to 1.2mm slightly bigger than real but in my opinion they look scale on the model. Italeri rivets are 1mm
Bugatti Fan Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 I think you are right about not using photo etched Thomas, as you have already proved. Thanks for the feedback on this. The ones you made look really good on your model.
maysula Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Hi. S**t happens ? When overspraying the main bodypart with clear I dropped it to the floor ! After I calmed down and the bodys varnish had cured I sanded it down and used fullprimer to fill in the small scratches.. didn´t work at all? So I put the part in brakefluid for a few hours, and then the paintjob started all over again. I have painted the steering wheel with artistspaint and then Humbrol clear, added some more nuts and screws on some parts. The seat has a got an old wallcovering with a leather surface. More later Thomas Edited January 20, 2023 by maysula 2
Bugatti Fan Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 This model is coming on really well and will be very impressive when complete.
Pierre Rivard Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Thomas, this looks like a great kit to start with but it's your skills that turns it into a masterpiece! Swedish yellow and blue theme, my all time favorite combo.
stavanzer Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 The Yellow over Blue National Colours look very sharp! Your Workmanship is First Class!
Belugawrx Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Nice work Thomas, the steering wheel looks like real wood? I hate when I drop a freshly painted part on the floor.... Cheers

Italeri rivets are 1mm Hi Tomas, your 3D fasteners is very interesting! Is it for sale ? I tried to fix this wire on my build but not satisfied at all, but I have one more kit to do later so your fasteners looks very tempting ?
absmiami Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 just a brief note regarding I's kit engineering - thought I saw a post - maybe on the Brit modeling site - expressing belief that Italeri just copied the MFH 12th sc kit nope - compare the bonnets on the two kits - a build of the MFH kit posted on line shows a rather poor effort by MFH to represent the bonnet hinge assembly - surprising considering how great their kits are ... Italeri must have noticed this - appears that their kit has an excellent hinge assembly with reasonable scale accuracy betting you agree, Thomas ...
gordinir8 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 They are not for sale but if you can print them I can send you the STL file. Problem that I have now is that the guy that print those 8 pieces for me tried to print a bunch of 140 but I'm not satisfied with the results so I'm looking for someone with a better printer. On the other hand there is a company called "anobtainium" is about to release a detail set for this model and will include fasteners also.

Bugatti Fan Posted February 6, 2023 Posted February 6, 2023 The company Thomas is referring to is unobtainium. It is run by Nick Edwards in North Wales here in the UK. Look on the Britmodeller website as he has posted all of what he is doing on the Italeri 35B on there. The Bugatti parts are not up on his unobtainium site just yet, but probably will be sometime soon. His own website has other things available now and coming soon. He is also working on update parts for the big Airfix Bentley. He can be contacted on his own website where he has a contact form to use. 1
