curt raitz Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Had a couple of these kits layin' around (not the greatest kit in the world) When Vintage Racing Decals came out with the decals to do these versions, being a Briggs Cunningham and Bob Bondurant fan - I decided to build'em. 1960 Lemans entry by Briggs Cunningham, piloted by John Fitch and Bob Grossman Finished 8th overall, 1st in class 1961 Santa Barbara Road Race entry by Bob Bondurant thanx for lookin'
Zoom Zoom Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Those are awesome Where did you get the Halibrands? HRM? This is great timing; I just got those decals myself when I found they had the 614 decals for the '63 Corvette; I'll be building that pretty soon using the Revell curbside kit. I had the same idea as you for using my '60 MPC reissue 'Vette kit.

Those Halibrands have been in my part box for umpteen years...I think i got them from mini-exotics I plan on doing the 63 Corvette as well I love the chrome decals, a few have found their way on other Corvette builds thanx

Later, I've had all of these in progress o'er the past 4 - 6 months... all hit the finishing stage at the same time...think I knocked off five of 'em in two days then it took me a week or two to break out the camera and in the mean time finished a couple more I'm not really pleased with the Corvette's, they do look pretty decent in the photographs though...
robertw Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Very nice builds. Despite the age of this kit and it's multi party body it was the most accurate C1 kit for many many years. The VRM decals are also some of the best available. rob
DR Dubois Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 WOW! Both those Vettes are beautiful builds. They look totally awesome and not something you usually see. Well done.
Slim Louis Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Very well done! I love any type of racing Corvettes and these are great examples!
Bernard Kron Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Really nice, both of them. As`a little boy I saw #3 run at Le Mans It overheated terribly. I remember sitting in the stands above the Cunningham pits in the middle of the night watching the US drivers wolfing down TV dinners while the mechanics packed dry ice around the engine block! Despite all their troubles the efficient Americans took half the time for their pit stops than the Ferrari factory entrants down the way.
arby1949 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 You did a wonderful job on the 'vettes. I'm thinking about doing the '63 version Bondurant drove. I did manage to do the "60 version that I posted "under glass" around the first of November, if you want to check it out and let me know what you think. Again, " Awesome Job "
