Howard Cohen Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Today I picked up this pair of 1964 Corvettes and trailer, never painted, assembled nicely, some parts still in the box, from the son of the builder, built when the kits were new I gave them a quick cleaning with Novus 1 and Meguiar's #6 Cleaner/Wax. Now they are sitting in a showcase waiting for the glue to dry (I always glue 2 tires down so they don't roll away). Ahhh...I am 14 again 5
doorsovdoon Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 They still look good, bare bones and all. I used to do that when I was younger, usually with the coloured plastic kits and glue them as is. I've been wanting to assemble a bare kit 'as is' for display, but the paint always calls me! Lol
espo Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Like the idea of saving them as bought. These were some of the better models of the Corvette in their day.
Howard Cohen Posted January 17, 2023 Author Posted January 17, 2023 Here are a few more of my original AMT 63 & 64 Corvettes The first white one was a glue bomb, so much glue that the rear window post melted, hence the scoop (from a GT40). The convertible is one of 2 with rotating headlights, the other being the car from T.H.E.CAT, being restored. The red is a slightly modified coupe with some spare parts on the display base. Then my newest finds mounted together. 3
Gramps46 Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 I am a real fan of these Corvettes and really appreciate you posting your photos. I too bought a 1964 glue bomb thinking I would restore it but decided to keep as is. It is a real slice of history.
