Gary Chastain Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 Grill molded into the hood, first color going on.
Gary Chastain Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) Quick mock-up, new cab, modified hood/grill and custom built sleeper Edited November 8, 2023 by Gary Chastain Correct verbage 2
David G. Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 A nice smooth transition between the hood and grille, well done! It's nice seeing this one back on the bench. David G. 1
Gary Chastain Posted November 12, 2023 Author Posted November 12, 2023 Fabrication work finished on rear fenders, first two coats of paint applied. Next wet sand rear fenders and apply final coat, finish paint work on front fenders. 1
Gary Chastain Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 Ever have one of those days where nothing goes right, today is mine. I double checked to make sure my tape was stuck down really well, maybe my tape is old or ……….who knows. I could scream, wait for it to dry totally, sand it down and start over.
David G. Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 Dang, what a bummer about the paint. David G.
Gary Chastain Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 Rebuilt the chrome kit fuel tanks and yes I know, you will only be able to see the top rear corner with the aero skirts mounted. But the kit tanks just looked so bad. Getting the paint on the hood fixed.
Gary Chastain Posted November 22, 2023 Author Posted November 22, 2023 Quick mock-up before attaching rear fenders and identifying fuel tank locations. Raised body mounts .030 for more clearance with the oversized tires 1
David G. Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Looks great! You got that masking line cleaned up very nicely. David G. 1
JamesBC Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 One very nice job and truck. thanks for sharing Jim

Gary Chastain Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Rear fenders mounted, lights on, fuel tanks mounted. Think I will shorten the exhaust. Finish up interior and cab but getting close. 1
Gary Chastain Posted November 25, 2023 Author Posted November 25, 2023 Got a start on the trailer for the truck. Starting with the AMT Lowboy kit (as the donor). Will use the rear three axle section without beaver tail, will stretch to a 40ft drop deck. Will build up a set of 10 hole wheelset. Frame paint in turquoise and suspension in semi gloss black 1
David G. Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 It's coming together quite nicely. David G. 1
gotnitro? Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Outstanding work on the KW !! The color looks great on this too Nice cheat on the lowboy, excellent use of the amt parts

Gary Chastain Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 Frame of the trailer coming together, will try to build my own wood deck. 3
Gary Chastain Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 Fabrication work near complete, did not realize there are no jacks in this kit. Will need to fab up a set of jacks, do some finish work on the frame, pick up some wood strips for the deck. 1
Bills72sj Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 I have a suggestion on the wood decking. Paint it dark brown. Then paint is flat tan. Once it is cured, lightly sand the tan to expose the wood grain texture. 1
Gary Chastain Posted December 1, 2023 Author Posted December 1, 2023 That’s a really good idea. I stretched the frame on this build so the original panels don’t fit , otherwise I would try out what you did. 8 hours ago, Bills72sj said: I have a suggestion on the wood decking. However, I did a trade with another modeler to get extra decking. I repurposed the diamond plate between the tires to fit over the 5th wheel.

Like to see em.
Gary Chastain Posted December 1, 2023 Author Posted December 1, 2023 Trailer is painted, decking cut but needs some fine tuning. Lights, mud flaps and some decals, some other details, then back to truck. 1
