Ever have one of those days where nothing goes right, today is mine. I double checked to make sure my tape was stuck down really well, maybe my tape is old or ……….who knows. I could scream, wait for it to dry totally, sand it down and start over. 6F8FD929-0662-4BF6-8142-D5ACB63B187D.jpeg.2efcba59c95f86819ab73e2596b792f0.jpeg

Rebuilt the chrome kit fuel tanks and yes I know, you will only be able to see the top rear corner with the aero skirts mounted. But the kit tanks just looked so bad. Getting the paint on the hood fixed. 3EAE8E4A-1258-4454-ADDD-5095D456CF25.jpeg.a43483e38ea8f3050968665c3629077a.jpeg

One very nice job and truck.

thanks for sharing

Jim

Thanks, got a ways to go yet. Gonna put together a flatbed trailer with same paint scheme to finish this one out.

Got a start on the trailer for the truck. Starting with the AMT Lowboy kit (as the donor). Will use the rear three axle section without beaver tail, will stretch to a 40ft drop deck. Will build up a set of 10 hole wheelset. 81CAD6A5-AB70-43A8-B678-6C711524F893.jpeg.fad21a298695737bec257d51016d0874.jpeg

Outstanding work on the KW !! The color looks great on this too

Nice cheat on the lowboy, excellent use of the amt parts

Thanks, decided I like building trailer from scratch better but will stay the course on this trailer

Fabrication work near complete, did not realize there are no jacks in this kit. Will need to fab up a set of jacks, do some finish work on the frame, pick up some wood strips for the deck. 860B61AB-3BF8-4A04-9F33-E8D3D97983F1.jpeg.d8408c5762b292c15394126431bbc0c7.jpeg

I have a suggestion on the wood decking. Paint it dark brown. Then paint is flat tan. Once it is cured, lightly sand the tan to expose the wood grain texture.

That’s a really good idea. I stretched the frame on this build so the original panels don’t fit , otherwise I would try out what you did.

I actually stretched the upper frame on my lowboy too. However, I did a trade with another modeler to get extra decking. I repurposed the diamond plate between the tires to fit over the 5th wheel.
