Okay as promised a built up i bought 20+ years ago seller wanted $20.00 for it it's decently built,it's in pieces but all there.IMG_5330.thumb.JPG.9f8fe5f2558a47c34054669d4b7bd941.JPG

He'll do custom colors and may also do scales Curtis. Just takes a bit longer to have the sheet custom printed. You'd have to ask.

He'll even put your choice of tire lettering and license plates on the sheet.

That's super fun!!! I'll have to reach out to him too. I have the factory decal sheet but it's worse for wear. I want the gray/black stripes and letters. And the 140mph speedometer. That should've been standard equipment for an iroc IMO.

Did some minor things today. Took some measurements of the axle shafts. I marked a center line opposite of the mold line as the mold line was in fact centered on that axis. I used a real small counterbore tool, followed by a jobber drill and then a reamer. The rear axle was sketchy. I had 1 chance to get it right. Seems like I pretty much nailed it. The front spindles however.... well.... they didn't fare as well. I cracked both of them. One on the outer edge and the other right by the spindle. Not a huge problem yet. And overall the ends I drilled and reamed aren't even used... at all... well they weren't. They are now. Point is if I loose them and the idea doesn't pan out, it's not the end of the world either. I glued the crack and sent the reamer through it again. I'll send down the shaft to smoothen it out. Now I have to find some metal shafts and a couple gears. I'm going to pin the drive shafts and have a pinion set up in the diff so the driveshaft rotates with the tires! Also need to find some coil springs for a rc drift car. Or something of the like.

That's not the one I thought. I thought you had the maroon one. $20 is a steal for that in that shape! My first one looked like that but I had the red stripe and door decals

Well that only a huge PITA. The transmission in the iroc is incorrect. It's the same 305/TH350 that came in the 82 Z28 kit. We all know that model companies do these things to cut costs. However... it's funny to me that they made the whole TPI assembly but didn't mold the 700R4 transmission. Even the TH350 is incorrect. It's close but it's missing the clutch housing on the passengers side. Now I gotta buy a 1/8 resin 350 with a Tremec T5.... alright then lol

Check out Texas 3D customs, he has some nice stuff and does 1/8. He can get you an 1/8th 350/305 and a T5

I was poking around on Evilbay and found the 350/t5. I kinda wonder if he has an ebay store or something. I'll check the sire for sure! Thank you for the heads up!

Got some small things done. Again conceptualizing the brakes because monogram took the shoddy way. I grabbed some 1.380 washers from work. They look to be the size(just about) and I have a couple 1.360ish ones too. However, doing the scale conversion with 12" front rotors and 10" rears I'm looking to be around 1.5" up front and 1.25 out back. Back to the washer bin. Have to pick up some styrene also so I can fab up some calipers. I'm liking the added weight to the wheels with the washers for rotors. I'll post pics shortly.

1/8th scale is so much fun to work with, scratch building is much easier. Here's what I did with the blob of a 4 speed in the '65 Vette kit:

I cut it apart, made an adapter to fit a flathead, then with some hobby shop little bolts and sheet styrene, a bit of florist wire, it looks so much better:

I'm sure you'll have a blast once you start adding details, cheers!

Where do you get "hobby shop little bolts"? Do you happen to remember the sizes?

They're in little packs on a counter top rotating rack, I USED to see them at most hobby shops, not so much any more, but of course you can always find them online.

These were Hob-bits, sizes 1-72 and 00-80, 00-90. Online they give you sizes. There are plenty of others, not just Hob-bits.

Looking forward to seeing more progress on it? I remember building this one as a kid, but I’m not real sure what happened to it .I’ve owned several 1:1 third gen Camaros. I currently own a 91 Z/28 and 92 RS Heritage Edition Camaro. Both of them need lots of work!

I will also be following. I have I have the Camaro, Firebird, 85, 82 and 65 Corvettes, 32 Ford and 2 Lindberg T Buckets all 1/8th scale. I'd like to add as much details as possible.

Went to the hobby store today since I was home with my sick pup. (He's fine, it was his birthday a couple days ago and he may have overdone it. To be safe we took a trip to the doc.) Anyways... because we're in the middle of a huge snowstorm they weren't open. To be fair..  32" of snow and it's still falling... so there's that. I had brought the rear axle and top of the dif as well as the front control arm. I was going to check out their touring car springs and see if the 1/24 rc shocks would be a viable option. I was also going to see if they had a differential that would fit 1/8 rod. I'll have to do that Friday. I did pick up some springs from home depot but out of the 84 in the pack 4 of them look like they could work.... until I put the car on them. Too much sag with the weight of the car. Tonight I'll be working on making some tubular rear control arms. I'm going to see about making them out of sprue pieces. Sorry for the lack of pics. They're coming soon. Just busy with work and dogs.

Working on the car a bit tonight. Stopped by the LHS and picked up a couple things I was hoping would make life a bit easier. Picked up a traxxas diff, some 1/24 scale shocks, and some 1/10 touring springs. I polished up the .125 metal rod I'm using as axle shafts. I'm liking where this is headed. I'm not one to blend hobbies (RC into styrene) however, the scale of things seems to work out a bit. The shocks came with really small screws. These seem like they'd work great for pinning things if you don't have pins. I'll probably use them for the rear shocks.

I see two huge roadblocks coming up. For starters I forgot that monogram used the spacer on the axle shaft as a tire retainer. This isn't going to pose a problem. However I haven't decided what the best way to attach the wheel to the axle shaft. ??? Well.... guess that's some brainstorming while I'm making jet parts. The other roadblocks is that I've cleared the material that they were using as a brake disc. I'm using a 1.25 inch washer behind the wheel. The problem is that since they molded the brake disc into the wheel I don't have clearance for a brake caliper. ?? for that I'm going to build up material on the face of the backing of the wheel. Once I have enough to follow the profile of the back of the wheel face, I'll trim some from the backside of the back of the wheel to make the clearance. Since this kit doesn't come with calipers I'll have to make them using the brake shield that mounts to the axle and spindles.
