I seem to be having trouble getting the interior tub and the floor pan to mesh properly? I have watched assembly videos and read build threads here…everyone says it basically falls together. The interior is located properly in the body, but the floor pan won’t push up far enough for the frame rails to meet the inner fenders. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else have this issue?

There seems to be interference here.

Step 20 and 23 clearly show the firewall attached to the interior tub.

But it looks here like it might better be attached to the floor pan?

Edit: I don’t think it’s possible to close this gap without notching the floorpan and the interior bucket where it meets the firewall.?

At first glance it looks like the fire wall and cowl don't fit as well as they should but shouldn't be as big a problem as you're having here. A couple of things to check if you haven't already. The interior bucket fit inside of the body? The interior can keep the frame from going in as far as it should. Check the clearances around the inside of the lower window area and the upper sides of the interior bucket. The interior should go all the way to the bottom edge of the side window openings. The photo looks like they're really close. The Toe Board and Frame contact area may need a little reshaping. I have built a few of these, I like '56 Chevys, and not had this problem so I think studying how everything fits together and see if anything looks like it is out of alignment. Looking at a couple of these I have on the shelf I do notice that the front edge of the inner fender does not meet the frame, but it is closer than what your is now.

Thanks David. I believe I have a small amount of body warpage that prevents the cowl curvature from matching the firewall…a minor thing. Making the cowl conform brings the top of the interior door panels level with the window openings.

Edit: I figured it out.? I had the entire floor pan/frame too far back. I had the fender well section attached to the frame tucked in behind the body mount attached to the firewall. DOH!!!? Now I feel stupid.?

This is how we learn what to look for. Can't tell you how many times I have slapped my forehead trying to figure out how all these parts come together. Just imagine how the designers of the tool must have felt.

We learn to do...as the saying goes.   :D

EDIT: If I had a dollar for every time I looked back at something that had me flummoxed and thought "that should have been obvious", I'd have a pretty big stack of dollars.  B)
