MeatMan Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 I've got to make some taillights and I'd like to know if any of you know the best transparent red for that, thanks.
stitchdup Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 (edited) more modern cars with the sharper reds I use tamiya acrylic clear red, if its an older car with the dirtier looking red i use humbrol clear red as it has an older lookbut it a celulose paint. I sometimes use taliya clear orange under their red too if there are reflectors on the lense surface just for a subtle colour difference in those areas Edited April 9, 2023 by stitchdup spelling
TonyK Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Yep, Tamiya clear red is my choice. Usually need to do 2 coats. 1
Classicgas Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 I like testors stoplight red over chrome, silver or foil base.if you use it on clear back the lense with foil or bright silver.
ctruss53 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 I use Tamiya Clear Red as well. For turn signal amber I use Tamiya paints as well, but I find that their Clear Orange is too close to the red, so I mix in a bit of Clear Yellow. 1
