Admittedly, I've been absent here for a few months and I previously used Firefox as my browser.  I've been using Chrome now and lately when I do come here to view a message I've searched for I can see the page it takes me to but from there when I click on another page (in the same thread) it doesn't move.  I see the new page url show at the bottom of the page but nothing happens.  I went on to Firefox again and all is well there.

Any ideas?

does it work if you right click and select open in a new tab? admittedly i gave up on chrome and only use firefox now but chrome seemed to just hang up when loading pages

Yes, that works Les.  Pain in the butt tho...

I looked at my Chrome settings and nothing seems out of the ordinary.  Maybe it's just Chrome objecting to something on this site?  I know I've used Chrome off and on with Firefox and never saw any issues like this.

Thanks

maybe clear the cookies or runyour anti virus/anti spy ware programs. some of the advertising cookies can cause problems

First thing I did.. cleared Chrome's cache.  I'll run the Windows anti virus and see what happens, but I have it set to check regularily and it hasn't come up with anything.  I guess I could try deleting Chrome and do a reinstall ?‍♂️

Well, reinstalling Chrome didn't change anything.  When Chrome goes to this site it warns me that it isn't secure but I always just go ahead anyway.  Lots of times it's just an expired certificate or something.  The site then loads, but I have this page changing problem.  And I have a second computer that has the same issue when using Chrome.

I use Firefox and have been experiencing the same thing since Aug 2021 but this is the only forum that it happens on.

I just select the page I want, right click and open it in a new window.

This does not happen with Edge and I hate Chrome

Well, I use FF exclusively and have never had this problem. I'd say its a config issue, tho I don't know what could cause it. I too frequently use new window but only because I just prefer it.

This happens to me too, at random. Some days it works normally, most days it doesn't. I'm using Firefox with Ublock Origin adblocker. I just type /page/2 on the end of the url if I want to get to page 2 ?

It has only happened to me one time and it fixed itself the next time I logged in.

There are a lot of different phones, tablets, computers, internet providers, switching hubs, satellites, etc.. out there. Each with it's own batch of settings and security features that can be modified. Imagine having to make something that works exactly the same for everyone out there using any combination of these devices. We have looked into this multiple times on our end and Dave has put in tickets with the vendor. There is not a lot we can do on our end to fix this. Truth is, your personalized settings (or that of any number of devices between our server and you) may be the cause of the problem. We have no way of knowing what causes this or what makes it go away on it's own.

I understand it is an inconvenience to have to click one or two more times to get to where you want to go. I also understand how huge of a resource this site is to many people and how everyone wants everything to work perfectly every time they access the site.

So before you get frustrated and want to leave in a huff, please keep in mind that this is a FREE site, staffed by a very small number of volunteers who continue to do their best to address every concern/complaint you bring to our attention. Sometimes we can't fix it.
