KWT Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) Having to make a paint order today, I was looking to see what else I may want to build on my Monogram themed builds this year. So adding another kit I've never built to the mix Let's see where this leads... stay tuned... Edited April 22, 2023 by KWT 2
Len Woodruff Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Following closely. I need do ths kit as a replica of my 78 Silver Annivesary that is in the garage.
KWT Posted April 23, 2023 Author Posted April 23, 2023 Oh that's awesome... Post a pic if you'd like. It's relevant... And I'd kinda like to see it. I'm going to be doing a lot of testing fitting to see if I can attach all the body components first and still get the chassis installed after.
Len Woodruff Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 Here is a pick of my 78 1:1. Let me know if you have any questions or need detail pics about the 78. 5
KWT Posted April 23, 2023 Author Posted April 23, 2023 Len that is a snazzy looking Vette. Congrats on that! I may hit you up for some pics depending on which direction I go.

David G. Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 I definitely interested in seeing what you can do with this kit. David G.
KWT Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Finally a break in work and the weather this weekend... Got the body smoothed out and some primer sprayed. Hopefully can get this going... Stay tuned... 1
KWT Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 I appreciate it... I've been trying to decide how I want to go about this. I'm wearing google photos out on this one... @Len Woodruff Would you care to bless us with an under hood shot or two?
KWT Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Thank ya sir! That engine compartment is CLEAN... 1

When we rebuilt the engine in 2018 that took care of all of the leaks that dirty up an engine compartment. Now I just wipe it down to keep the dust off of it.

So question, if nothing more than to educate myself... Is the bottom portion of the car charcoal? Gunmetal? I've never seen one of these in person.

I would paint the floor boards flat black for contrast. The later C3's had steel floor boards. The earlier one's were fiberglass and a lighter color.
AJM Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Jeremy/Len -- Will be following this, looks like you have a great start on the Vette! Not to hi -jack the thread, but a number of years ago I had a '79 L-82 four speed, Corvette Yellow with a saddle interior -- I build a 1/8 scale model of it from the '78 Monogram kit --modified to look like the '79. Here are a few pics -- Jeremy if you need any additional info let me know --I plan to do one in 1/24 scale as well! Good luck with your build! 3
Sam I Am Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 (edited) I will be following along as well. I plan on building one with the Indy pace car look. Edited May 16, 2023 by Sam I Am
Len Woodruff Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Here's the Monogram 1/8 scale I built a few years before I got the 1:1. 1
KWT Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Two snazzy looking builds guys... very nicely done. I also have the pace car release from a couple years ago. I want to build it box stock... this one is just cuz this is my favorite body style 1

KWT Posted May 21, 2023 Author Posted May 21, 2023 Well... I was trying to decide between a Silver, Champagne Gold, Pearl Yellow or maybe Pearl Green... As luck would have it, I didn't have enough of any of them to paint the body. So instead of making yet another paint order, and the fact I have the Indy Pace Car, I decided to step a little out of the box... When I get this cleared, I think it's gonna be a real looker... What say you? 5
