Scott8950 Posted December 22, 2024 Posted December 22, 2024 Well I've went down another rabbit hole, i bought a completely stock and all original 88 mustang gt a few months back with plans of just a repaint and daily drive it . The car is a factory maroon car that was painted black at some point and came with red interior. I stumbled across a wrecked 92 mustang gt with 52k actual miles that had severe frame damage and i purchased the complete interior and wiring from front to rear. The carb swap is very tempting but this car will stay efi with just a cam swap and some bolt ons. 4

Stuff like 4-wheel discs and 5 lug conversions are readily available...... I'm sure you're aware of that, though. Wish I still had my '91..........

Yes sir the aftermarket is endless for the fox platform, I bought this car with intentions of a semi daily driver. 2
Tabbysdaddy Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Noticed the truck getting hot, made it to the parts store. Thermostat housing leaking, bought and installed a new one. Then later noticed water dripping, radiator leaking. Warranty item exchanged for a new one. The plastic tank was leaking.
Sam I Am Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Just brought home this '66 Pontiac Lemans four dr hardtop. 326, auto. Ps,pb. 11 1
topher5150 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I've been chipping away at this turd for the past 7-8 years. The pic towards the bottom is what it looked like when I brought it home, and the black/white pic is kind of what I'm trying for. 6

YellowHound Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Not really a 'project' car, though I do all of my own maintenance. When it warms up here I'll start on this year's list of small jobs. Owned for 23 years. 10

This is the first that I have owned. When I was young my mom's best friend had a 1964. Navy blue with white top and interior convertible with a 428. I fell in love....probably with a fickle mistress, I know. A good friend has a 1960 that I have done a lot of upkeep on and it's a joy to drive. This '64 has been off the road a number of years. It has a 390 and the engine compartment is complete and unmolested. Door panels are missing, so that tells me there are power window issues of some kind. It comes with a clear title.....but no keys. One can hope the door panels are in the trunk. Even so, I pulled the trigger on it and only time will tell if I shoot myself in the foot or not. 😁 1

Tabbysdaddy Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Removing some nasty words from the side of the truck I just got. Etching primer: Sanding primer: I'll sand it and spray the color tomorrow when I find a close color as nobody has the color match on the shelf. 1
Radretireddad Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I’m in the process of collecting all the specialized tune up tools for my lovely lady. When the weather breaks, I’ll be tuning, adjusting and tweaking everything on her to a perfect pitch. I still have a few perplexing electrical gremlins that need exorcising and after that I plan on tackling as many seal and gasket replacements as I can. My goal is to get her drive-me-anywhere bulletproof. 7 1

Tabbysdaddy Posted January 27 Posted January 27 With the painting of the bedside complete, the new truck is ready to replace the '93 moving the '93 into full project status with the van. 1
OldSkool81 Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) My project truck, which also was my dream truck since I was a kid. When I was 5 my uncle across the street got a brand new 1986 Jeep Cherokee, and me and my cousins thought it was just the coolest thing. So when Jeep came out with the Comanche, which was a pick-up version of the Cherokee, and I saw one for the first time in the late eighties, I fell in love and knew I had to have one someday!!! I bought mine in 2017 as a non-running, 4 cylinder manual 2wd, that a kid bought from the original owners, and cut and ripped hoses and wiring looms under the hood, preparing for a Mercedes diesel 5-banger swap that never happened. It came with the bed full of parts to convert it to 4x4 which is what I did over time. I also repaired the wiring and hoses and made the stock 4 cylinder live again, and it runs surprisingly good for the original engine! It became my summer daily driver, to identify and repair mechanical flaws. I'm pretty much done, and I'm about to start sheetmetal work and paint. Here is my uncle's Jeep photo, as well as my Comanche over time: Edited February 2 by OldSkool81 5
fun9c1 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 '55 Mercury Montclair with a '60 352, 4 on the floor and lakepipes. I was looking at cars on Craiglist in 2020, totally not to buy one, just looking for the heck of it and saw this about an hour away. Had to have it. Drove the hell out of it for a couple summers until the brakes got too bad to drive any more. Life has been getting in the way of getting her back on the road and now it's stuck in 3rd gear from sitting too long.... I am determined to start terrorizing the streets again this summer, though. She's rough but alot of fun and runs great. I have learned from the guys on the H.A.M.B. not to call it a rat rod! LOL 6

I've had a bunch of 55-56 Fords but never a Merc. There's a '55 Montclair close to me on Marketplace with all the hard stuff done that's been for sale for a long time. I keep talking myself out of going to look at it.
