Engine is basically done.  I opted not to wire this one.  Maybe next time.  I do still need to finish the air cleaner, but its paint is curing now.  I’m hoping to chrome the lid.  We’ll see how that goes.

I gave it a bit of weathering with Tamiya panel line accent.  My plan is to lightly weather the undercarriage, so the engine may or may not get a little more at that time so it looks uniform with the rest.

Also drilled and pinned the exhaust where the pipes will connect.  That seems to be a trouble spot for me, so we’ll see if it makes the connection easier.

Engine looks great Jeremy?

Thanks guys!  Feels good to finally see this one moving forward.

Mike - check out your emoji.  Back at you buddy!?. Joking of course.  I think I’ve hit that one a number of times by mistake too.??

Just finished up detailing the taillights.  Not perfect but not too terrible.  I can live with ‘em.

Edit - man I need to figure out how to make my pics smaller.  You can see WAY too much detail with these larger pics.?

FYI, 2nd Gen Camaros with the Rally Sport option got extra chrome rings in the tail light lenses.

Yeah, I saw that.  Just not sure how to get that look though.  There’s no lip on the parts to paint.  It’s recessed around the cone in the center, but I think if I try to paint that, it’ll look way out of scale.  Almost like the ring would be an inch wide on 1:1.

I’m considering getting the photo etch set, but I’m not sure I’m ready to make that leap yet.   Never tried it yet.  Still might though.  I’m not happy with the trim rings around the headlights, and that would probably eliminate that problem too.  Dunno.  I’m still kicking it around.

Side note- I actually redid the backup lights yesterday.  I didn’t like the look with just aluminum paint.  I added some very thinned off-white over the aluminum and it looks better.

Well I was planning to lightly weather the floor pan, but now I’m really having second thoughts.  I originally shot it with oxide red primer, and then recently clear coated it so a wash would flow better.  I was going to do all the weathering and then flat coat the whole thing.
Today I did just a small amount of detail painting prior to doing the weathering, and honestly I’m really pleased with the look as it sits.  I think the gloss helped create more shadows and depth, and that was the main reason I wanted some light weathering to begin with.  I’ll think about it for a bit, but I’m pretty content with it like this.

As has become the norm lately, I’m flipping back and forth between this and the beetle project this afternoon .  That one is at a standstill right now while paint and cement cure.

While that’s happening, I did some detail painting on the Camaro firewall, and got it installed.  These two kits are really starting to get fun again now that I’m starting to see progress.

I’ve been looking for a good dark grey that would look right over black for just such applications and I think I finally found one I’m pleased with.  This one is Model Master Engine Gray (4749) on the wiring.   It’s about the darkest gray I have currently.

And here it is in its new home-
