customline Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 (edited) Nice detailing on the old stump puller, JR. It's a great kit, ain't it? Still looking for wheels? You could use the stock full covers; basically, its a stock Impala so those nice, detail-able stock wheels (with spinners?) might just look pretty good. I plan to build mine showroom stock. It's a beauty just the way it came in '62. ? Edited August 4, 2023 by customline To bolster my position/ removed errant word
ModelcarJR Posted August 4, 2023 Author Posted August 4, 2023 (edited) Thanks, Jeremy, Jim, and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Jim, wheels are next. I've got to rummage through the tire and wheel parts boxes. I like this type of assembly as it allows the engine, chassis and interior to be completed as one unit. That way I can connect the heater hoses and radiator hoses without the body on and getting in the way. I added clear green to the water bottle with a brush that I will have to clean up a little on the right side and made a bracket for the heater hoses from BMF. On to wheels and windows! Thanks for looking! ? Edited August 4, 2023 by ModelcarJR Copy text 2 1
Zippi Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 That 409 looks pretty kewl setting in the business end.
ModelcarJR Posted August 5, 2023 Author Posted August 5, 2023 Thanks, Jim, Mike and Bob! I appreciate your comments! I found some wheels and tires. The tires are a set I bought a couple of years ago from Fireball Modelworks. They are soft, solid redline tires. I painted the red lines. I've been trying to use them but haven't had the right application yet. The wheels are from Revell Ford Thunderbolt. There are two sets of wheels in the kit that are big and littles. But if you have two kits, and don't use the wheels then you have 4 sets of wheels of the same size. These are the littles from two kits. So I thought these wheels which fit the tires very well along with the red lines would look good with the red interior and red stripe on the side. I'll blackwash them to give them more definition. Let me know what you think. I have also added two photos of the engine with a better camera setting that you can actually see something. Thanks for looking! ? 4
customline Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Oh.....perfect! Mickeys and red lines. Icing on the cake, JR. ? EXCELLENT ?.
slusher Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 Great tires and wheels you have chosen for your Chevy. I like the red line with your silver paint! Really nice clean 409 engine in your Chevy..
ModelcarJR Posted August 6, 2023 Author Posted August 6, 2023 Thanks, Jim, Jeremy and Carl! I appreciate your comments! Windows are in, body and wheels are on. I had also finished the front end but the bumper is crookerd so I'll have to remove it and try again! Thanks for looking! ? 1 1
ModelcarJR Posted August 8, 2023 Author Posted August 8, 2023 Thanks, Jeremy and Carl! I appreciate your comments! This one is done! I did brush some Dullcote on the taillight panel with mixed results to make it look more like aluminum. The Impala decal on the rear side is missing because I couldn't even find it to straighten it up on this silver paint, so I removed it. Otherwise, everything went fine on final assembly. Thanks for looking! ? 3
TransAmMike Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 Somehow John I missed this one. You really nailed the look with that one. Everything looks great and the color is perfect with the red trim and the red lines top it off??
Mike C. Posted August 8, 2023 Posted August 8, 2023 Nice! The Raders and redlines give it that period look. 1
