Thanks Daniel, For awhile I thought this would end up with a closed casket ceremony (i.e hood glued shut) but now I am gaining a little confidence with the engine build.

Watching your builds is always can't miss viewing for any modeler. Thanks Mark. Like I said this will not be representative of the real engine design but neither were the engine parts I started with. Still some work ahead to make these changes blend in reasonably well.
absmiami Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 That manifold and supercharger cleaned up nicely …
Pierre Rivard Posted October 17, 2023 Author Posted October 17, 2023 35 minutes ago, absmiami said: That manifold and supercharger cleaned up nicely … Surprisingly...as it was initially sunk in a pool of flash and very brittle to deal with. I twice broke the part in the process.
Pierre Rivard Posted October 20, 2023 Author Posted October 20, 2023 I added some elements to the engine top (the bottom half is molded into the chassis), housings for relocated distributor, oil breathers and coolant outlet. I also started some priming, sanding and color coating. Trying but looks like I'm making a mess. Hopefully adding a flat clear & washes plus some detailing like bolts and wiring will help a bit. Resin engine 1, Pierre 0... 2
MarkJ Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 Pierre, truly looks like metal pieces put together.
Pierre Rivard Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 More work trying to make this engine presentable. A added 0.03 Protech PE bolt heads & nuts. The breathers are just heads of small brass nails, coolant hose made from common material and finally added the distributor and wires. It is what it is... 3
absmiami Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 MINIGUN STUDIOS ? looked hi and low - no can find - link por favor … engine looks good - i think this is what Pinto has in mind …

This engine pales in comparison to your's but that's the best I was capable of with the combo of the parts I started with and what I'm capable of. I find that working with resin is a lot more harder than the styrene I'm used to...but these pre-war race cars... getting addicted... Minigun Studio is printed locally by a fellow working at my (great) hobby store. It was a first try and I was very impressed. Here's a list of items they offer, and they appear open to requests for new items. https://jachobby.com/fr/jolisearch?s=Minigun+Studio
MarkJ Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Wow, Pierre. The detail you have added to the engine that was given to you is through the roof impressive. 99% of modelers who view the final photos of this build will have no clue that it is even a resin model. If they buy this kit without looking at the wip will feel like this can't be the model that Pierre built. And if they build it oob will be very disappointed with what they end up with.

Lots of head scratching... Kinda doubt that Pierre. There is no hint that the builder of this model doesn't know what he's doing. Lots of great modeling going on here.
Pierre Rivard Posted October 26, 2023 Author Posted October 26, 2023 Got the interior finished and did some weathering to the seats. Engine has been weathered a bit and installed. Finally body has been bonded to the chassis. I have given the body a dark brown wash as a first weathering step, wondering how much more to do. I want some weathering to reflect race use without going too far. 2
Mittagskind Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Wow, this is going to be good, Pierre. The weathering is really realistic.
Straightliner59 Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 This is a real beauty, Pierre. The seats are fabulous! Excellent work!
MarkJ Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Pierre, anybody looking at those seats would swear they were distressed leather. This is weathering way beyond awesome. Probably the best I've ever laid eyes on. Every time I look at this model, you keep on out doing yourself.
Rattlecan Dan Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 The seats and Cockpit cover are great work. They add all the more realism to this great build.
Pierre Rivard Posted October 27, 2023 Author Posted October 27, 2023 Thanks guys, support much appreciated. I did say that the body only received a dark wash but more was done for the seats and cockpit tarp. Cockpit tarp received a flat clear to better receive weathering which was just light dirt colored pigments. The seats did get multiple washes and oriented to allow the wash to pool into recessed areas. I then added some dark rust Tamiya weathering master to the more worn out areas. 1
