Looking good, nice work, much patience, impressive progress...but you've uncovered and already mentioned everything I don't really enjoy about the older FPP kits.

The subject matter is superb, his proportions, scaling, and lines are usually excellent (his 550 Spyder is the only one out there that's just about spot-on)...but some of the molded-all-together parts and pinholes can be exasperating.

Lots to love about this build, and lots to learn from it.   :D

Thanks Ace, my first resin so I don't have anything to compare to. Definitely a challenge but one day at a time. Should be posting stuff in a day or 2. I think I saved the wheels.

Tires & wheels done. Tamiya putty to fill tire pits, extra laters of primer, more sanding and finally black topcoat and finishing with some pigment to achieve a moderate weathered look. Not perfect but considering what I started with I am satisfied

Wow, Pierre. Those tires look like real rubber tires. Like if you pushed on the side of one it would give. Realism at its finest.

Ok. - found my copies of the Stokes 8c2300 engine - which is the engine on the Lemans winner - right ? - ill post them if you think they will help - i do ….

Thanks Andy, please post them, I'll use any help I can get. In the meanwhile I found these and they look similar to the engine in my kit. I'm guessing that's the setup typical of Monza or Le mans types 8C.

First I need to survive the body finishing and paint. This one's not cooperating...

This might be a dumb question, but did Alfa Romeo and Ferrari share the same engine. I don't know a thing about these old vehicles. But they sure are interesting.

No, when this engine was created and used, Ferrari as a car manufacturer did not yet exist. Ferrari was the head of the Alfa racing team at the time. hence the Ferrari logo on the body.

Thank you, Hanjo. That is very interesting history to learn. I love history, especially about automobiles.

Mitti is correct - notice the smaller Ferrari badge has a different colored prancing horse - Enzo Ferrari’s badge evolved from the late thirties to the fifties …

Thank you too Andrew for pointing out the info on the logo. The prancing horse is probably the most iconic logo ever in automobile racing. The ultimate logo to have on the car you own as well if you are successful enough to own one.

@MarkJ you might enjoy this:

I'm reading it at the moment. Obviously a lot of ground to cover in 100 years of Le Mans, but it's a really good read.

best,

Body has been painted and the few decals applied. It did not goo smoothly with a few repaints and struggling with my color formulations. The yellow is Vallejo 1 part flat yellow and 2 part sand yellow. The red is AK matt red. Colors have been brush painted.

At this point I'll let this dry for a while while I do some experimenting on weathering techniques...
