JollySipper Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Hey, Guys! I'm kinda making some headway with this one....... It's the 'Car Show' release of the '36 Ford. You can build it as a coupe or convertible. After a few thought processes ( LoL ) I decided to go with the coupe variant....... Just getting a quick mock up going! The wheels are from the AMT '56 Fairlane and the tires are '56 T-Bird parts. I can already tell that this one will need a bunch of massaging to get the main body parts to work better together...... Anyway, here's to another project! 5
Zippi Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I am really diggin this 36 Ford Coupe TJ. The wheels & tires look the part man. Got a color in mind?
Rattlecan Dan Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 I like it already. Lol. Bettin' on ya' TJ.
dino246gt Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 Lookin' good! I love the '36 coupes as show cars, what colour have you picked for the body? And what engine??
JollySipper Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 Thank you, Guys...... I do indeed have a color chosen, though I may have to get the auto parts store to order it....... I'm looking at 'Pacific Green' from DupliColor. 1
Richard Bartrop Posted August 15, 2023 Posted August 15, 2023 (edited) Nice choice on the wheels and tires, though aren't the T-Bird wheels almost identical? Edited August 15, 2023 by Richard Bartrop
JollySipper Posted August 15, 2023 Author Posted August 15, 2023 Yea, they're pretty much the same...... I had painted some on those, though, and the chrome on these is so much nicer....... I've had the tires so long that the inserts are getting brittle!
customline Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 You will need chrome jack stands and mirrors and lights with color wheels. ? This one woke me up. I'm tagging along. 1 1
ea0863 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 I'm totally digging this build, and I looked up "Pacific Green"; what a beautiful teal it is!
bobss396 Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 I am a '36 Ford junkie. I have likely every release from AMT from 1961 to the Dick Tracy version. I have a couple of Monogram issues boxed up. Like the AMT '40 Ford, the '49 Ford and Mercury, it is a timeless subject. 2
JollySipper Posted August 17, 2023 Author Posted August 17, 2023 (edited) Just making some progress on the engine......... Thanks for following this, Guys! Let's just hope this build doesn't get held up like so many of my others..... Edited August 18, 2023 by JollySipper 4
JollySipper Posted August 19, 2023 Author Posted August 19, 2023 Did something today that I haven't done in a long time.......... Brush painted a molded-in exhaust system! Tomorrow I can weather this some and maybe get the suspension painted...... 1
dino246gt Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 (edited) That paint on the exhaust does look good! Edited August 19, 2023 by dino246gt
JollySipper Posted August 19, 2023 Author Posted August 19, 2023 Thank you, fellas! This morning I put a little rust colored wash on the exhaust and tried weathering the pan some...... 4
Zippi Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 Looking through my eyes that's looking pretty good.
JollySipper Posted August 19, 2023 Author Posted August 19, 2023 Thank you Zippi! I did tone down the weathering some, kinda redid it....... Also, the suspensions are in place! 2
speedy5963 Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 Very cool, like the direction you are going in with this build! I have one of the Revell ones built up in similar style and am working on an original AMT chopped coupe now! Look forward to following this one along!
JollySipper Posted August 22, 2023 Author Posted August 22, 2023 Here's some more progress for you guys........ Made a sunken license plate area and I've attached the trunk lid. I'll do some putty work around the lid...... Also put some Tamiya dull red on the interior parts. 4
slusher Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 TJ you came out the gate fast on this one buddy. I like what your doing with it! 1
JollySipper Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 Guys, I ended up having to change the color of the interior...... The red didn't look as nice against this teal as I was hoping it would. So for today's progress, the dash is done and I've repainted the interior! 4
customline Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Yep! That'll work! The red is real nice, TJ, put it with gray or khaki.
JollySipper Posted August 26, 2023 Author Posted August 26, 2023 Thank you, Sir! The red really is a nice color for that tone of interior color. I have built this little custom which I painted blue with the red for the inside. Turned out really nice..... The green I'm using here just wasn't vibing right....... 1
customline Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 That's a neat little street rod, TJ. I want one ?!
