Lyle Willits Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 RMR resin kit. Paint is Duplicolor Cream and Testors Majestic Emerald. Various decals from a Revell '49 Merc kit seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I'm thinking it made the car kind of gawdy. Oh well! Wheels are from,,,uh,,,,,uh,,,,,,some kit. (Duh!) Big block has BOB DUDEK polished aluminum valve covers.
Steven Zimmerman Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Fantastic !....Lyle,where'd you get those side mirrors?.........Steven Zimmerman aka the'Z'man
Lyle Willits Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 Fantastic !....Lyle,where'd you get those side mirrors?.........Steven Zimmerman aka the'Z'man From the Revell '41 Chevy pickup kit. I just cut the round "mirror" away from the stalk and added the silver wire. Glad you like the way I did "your" truck.
horsepoweraddict Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 this is a great panel truck with a nice stance to it. I like the color combo.
Raul_Perez Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Very nice build, Lyle!! I suspect that the interior door handles are also from RMR? I really need to get some of them for my builds, too. Thanks for sharing,
Fletch Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Very Cool build Lyle. I have been looking at the RMR '41 Panel body but hadn't found one to look at or a pic of the rear of one of them. It looks relatively accurate. The color, graphics, and wheels all look good together.
Andy Wyatt Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Oh yeah! Very nice Lyle, as always! Perfect color choice. I absolutely HAVE to get me some of Bob Dudek's valve covers.
SoCalCarCulture Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Nice Lyle! Here's a 1:1 for comparison on that body...
GOTH KUSTOMS Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Thas pretty kewl man, I like how you did the side flip hood, great job
Lyle Willits Posted March 3, 2009 Author Posted March 3, 2009 Very nice build, Lyle!! I suspect that the interior door handles are also from RMR? I really need to get some of them for my builds, too. Thanks for sharing, Interior handles came from the Revell '41 pickup kit as did the rest of the interior. Thanks Dave Lindsay for the stock body pics. That should answer a few other questions. The resin body appears to be approximately stock height but the door and body lines are different. So, call it a custom body. Makes a neat street rod build.
Randy Kern Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Very nice, Lyle. For some reason I really like the '41 body style, and it does well in a two-tone. You must have just finished this after the Big Sit. See 'ya at the meeting!
Steven Zimmerman Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 The body has a 3" chop, the body has been lowered over the fenders to the running boards, the doors have been modified, the headlight buckets have been slightly shortened, and the hood has been piecut. The wheel well openings have been altered, and the rear doors narrowed;bumper bracket slots filled in and windshield tilted back just a 'lil bit. The roof has been flattened also, the stock body was actually rather bulbuous(dunno iffen I spelled thet rite er not) and I tried to slim it down- the running boards have been smoothed,as have the hood's side panels....other than that,it's a stock body (GRIN).......Steve Zimmerman aka the'Z'man.............
Steven Zimmerman Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 ..........and the drip rails have been 'deleted' (I forgot) ..................'Z'
Raul_Perez Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Interior handles came from the Revell '41 pickup kit as did the rest of the interior... Thanks, Lyle!! I've got two of those kits, but I haven't looked at them that closely. Later,
Tom Kren Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Lyle That came out great Guess i have to get my butt going on mine! LOL
