Slotto Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 As seen in the Mock thread...this is the goal. I picked this one up from Ebay. The box said it's an AMT Prestige '69, the instructions say it's a '68. The box contained almost 2 complete kits plus a '98 Corvette. When it arrived, the postal box was damaged and some parts escaped. I let the seller know and she refunded everything but the shipping. the first thing is to liberate the door cards. This allow me to detail them easier. Stay tuned... 5
espo Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I like the subject and the kit. I have one that stalled out a couple of years ago and would like to get back to it someday. I'll enjoy watching what you have in mind on this. 1
Slotto Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 got the bucket painted up, carped and reassembled. wired up the engine figured out the front suspension and got the fronts to articulate. 6
Rattlecan Dan Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Not wasting any time. The wheels are giving it a great look and stance already also. 1
bobss396 Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 I just saw a show of Full Custom Garage where Ian grafted a Camaro finned grille to a Corvair, it also had Camaro tail lights on it.
Yeah Nah Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Looking good Steve. To my eye, the '69 Corvair is one of the prettiest shaped cars ever. Best of luck with this project! 1
Zippi Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Great looking stance on the Corvair Steve. Love those wheels & tires. 1
dino246gt Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Man that's looking great already! They are good looking cars, especially with that stance and those wheels! 1

I saw that show too like the day before I started working on it. He definitely is an inspiration.
Slotto Posted September 4, 2023 Author Posted September 4, 2023 Rubbed on some BMF before painting her then revealed the emblems after the paint cured. I used Duplicolor Chevrolet Red then lacquer thinner over the emblems with these... They are about 4 inches long with a cotton tip. Perfect for this task. finished up the interior by making brake, clutch and accelerator pedals. I mounted them using stick pins under the dash. 3

customline Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Interior looks great, a Steve. That red is the purest, dead on red I could ever wish for ?. Where did you find those swabs? Did you run out of these? 1

customline Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 OK, Steve....these swabs I pictured are available at Hobby Lobby and they come in 3 sizes. They are very firm but absorbent and I grab some on every trip to HL. I love them. I use them for pressing foil into place, removing blackout paint from chrome, picking up glue goofs, and a number of other things I'm sure I have forgotten?. I think you'll find them on many on-line hobby sites. I think they are branded Tamiya but there may be a generic. Off hand I can't be sure. 1
customline Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) Ignore this post ? Edited September 5, 2023 by customline Just me goofing up

ZYIGYI 500 Pcs Disposable Micro Applicator Brush for Eyelash Extension, Microswabs Lips Mascara Wands White https://a.co/d/4FDUpF1 Find them on ebay but shop around ( or go to Hobby Lobby, you know you want to ?.) You may want to try all the sizes for different tasks. Your cosmetic swabs are much cheaper but the Tamiya swabs are really good for certain operations. 1
Slotto Posted September 6, 2023 Author Posted September 6, 2023 Painted up the turn signals and the headliner and wanted a sneak peek
customline Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 This "unsafe at any speed" street machine is pretty freaking awesome sitting still. I looked at the ones that come up on a bing search. You definitely have the look nailed, Steve. 1
David G. Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Great looking Corvair, nice detail and paint so far. David G. 1 1
ea0863 Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Absolutely loving this build. The tires/rims and stance are spot-on! 1
