DoctorLarry Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 This was another just for fun project. I was trying to do a wide body 73 Grand Am but ended up just flaring the wheel wells for some larger wheels and tires and creating some spoilers for effect. Resin 73 Grand Am bumper, body and interior parts. Scale Productions (I think) resin Recaro seats. Felt carpeting and PE seat belt buckles. I tried to use a chassis from a Pro Street Chevelle because it has the same wheelbase. Big mistake. I ended up remaking the whole rear half of the chassis. Engine was from a late 70's Firebird kit and headers scratch built from parts box stuff, Lower front valance and spoilers from a 70's Dodge Challenger. Fireball resin Holley carb with scratch built linkage. Joseph's detail on these carbs is amazing if you have never seen one up close. Resin wheels from Ukraine and tires as well. Fire Coral Bronze acrylic enamel auto paint over Tamiya fine grey primer. My most successful attempt at bare metal foil. Acetate windows. Wired and plumbed with scratch built washer bottle and puke tank for the radiator. 11
karbuildr Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Very nice build, the color is very interesting and I definitely like it. Engine compartment is very well detailed.
DoctorLarry Posted October 8, 2023 Author Posted October 8, 2023 The color is a 1975 Pontiac color Fire Coral Bronze. A pretty color that I always like, particularly with a saddle interior.
Justin Porter Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Now this is a fun take on a big mid-70's coupe. Nicely done!
AMT68 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Great looking G/A and very impressive work on the engine compartment. Really like the body lines and the overall appearance of the front bumper and the "squeezable nose".
Yeah Nah Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 I really admire the effort and dedication that goes into producing models like this. Nice work.
Bills72sj Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Very nice result. If this was offered as a kit, I would have one for sure being a Pontiac guy.
ncbuckeye67 Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Very nice! I love to see resin builds of kits that should have been produced.
espo Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Great looking paint color and finish. Like the engine detailing along with the wheels and tires. These were the best looking of the then new Collonade GM bodies.
Koellefornia Kid Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Very nice build with a great paint finish!
ea0863 Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 An uncommon car with custom touches and a great stance on some cool rolling stock. Totally loving it!
