Rodent Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) It was working fine for me until Saturday when I lost the ability to go to the next page. As of today, I can no longer "like". Win 11, Chrome Version 118.0.5993.71. It works if I use Edge, but I don't really like Edge. Edit: OK, that was weird. It acted like my post didn't go through, but it did. bobthehobbyguy Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 I understand the sentiment about edge becuase I'm not a fan of Microsoft software. However there seems to be issues with Chrome and Windows. Chrome and windows have been recently updated and that seems to have aggravated the situation. The thing is edge is a windows product. Google Chrome was designed to worked with Android software first and Windows second. In addition the board uses Invision software. If there are issues a support ticket has to be submitted to see if they can fix the issue. That may take some time. It's also likely Chrome or windows will have to be the ones to fix it. Any upgrades to the board are going to take a bit becuase everything has to be backed up otherwise the board could be devastating if something goes wrong. At this point in time if you are having issues with Chrome then you need to use Edge until the issues get resolved. If your really against edge then you.need to try other browsers or deal with the limited functionality that Chrome is experiencing.
DanL Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Everything seems to have returned to normal now... hopefully it lasts Cheers DanL

ColonelKrypton Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 (edited) I don't think the issues users are experiencing are browser specific. I have tried, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, and Opera and cleared all of their caches. All behave the same, I cannot "like" a posting, nor can I go to the next page of a multi page posting. I can log in but get a warning about "connection not secure" or "form not secure" yet I am connected via secure HTTPS. And, if you can see this post, then I can still post as well. There is something going on behind the scenes that as a user we are usually not aware. My guess is something more likely related to the forums host and some issue with php or javascript or certificate issue or some other recent update or upgrade. The Britmodeller forum uses the same software as this forum but I have not had any issues with that forum. The only real visible difference between the two forums is that this forum has many more ads which to my mind also points to the comments in my previous sentence. cheers, Graham PS: Not only am I able to post but I can also edit a post which to my mind indicates that the problem lies less with the basic forum software and more so with the layer between the forum and the user i.e. the forum's host and infrastructure. bobthehobbyguy Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 (edited) In the forum problems thread ColonolKrrypton observed that the issues appear to be if the site is using https. HTTP APPEARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I tried an experiment with my android tablet with Google Chrome. The site works with http but when using https the errors occur. Experienced the react button issue using https. For those seeing the issues you want to see if the site is in insecure mode(http) or secure(https) HTTP DOES NOT EXPERIENCE THE ISSUES. Rocking Rodney Rat Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 These issues really suck. I hope it can get resolved... -RRR
Tom Geiger Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Hey guys, give the moderators a break! They work for free and the board is free. So stop attacking them and acting entitled! I’m having the same issues on my Dell Windows 11 laptop, using Chrome or Edge. So now I’m on this board on my iPhone. No life threatening issue! Thank you moderators for all you do! 2
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 I agree everyone needs to be patient. As noted the mods are also experiencing those of these issues. Dave is working on this complex issue. Any new posts on the subject need to be noted in the forum problems thread. There are more than 8 different threads on this subject. Below is Dave's post on what he is doing. On 10/20/2023 at 5:06 AM, Dave Ambrose said: Quick Update I have made some changes to our security certificates. If I run the extensive diagnostics, they say our security certificates are good. I've noticed that browsers cache those certificates, and clearing the cache vexingly leaves them intact. I'm experiencing some of the same problems as the rest of you plus another set that's more than a little annoying. It looks like there may be another problem with the forum. I'm working on this nearly full time, and will keep doing so until it's resolved. I have a few steps I can take that should improve things by a lot, but I've run into a major roadblock there, and it's gotten way more complicated than it should be. I have discovered a partial work around for the paging problem. On Chrome, I can left click on the next page button, copy the link address, then open that address in a new tab. It's not the most convenient work-around, but it may help some of you. Please be assured that I'm working to resolve this as quickly as I can. The server might be going offline at random times, but I will let you know in advance when I can. Thank you all for your patience and support, Dave Expand 1
