By chance, I lucked into acquiring the old AMT Chevy 454SS Silverado kit from a friend. (which had a walmart price sticker of $6.96)

I've been looking for one for a while now, just like everyone else, and there was NO WAY I was going to pay piratEbay prices for the kit.

I intend on detailing this as best as I can, as I'm building it for my brother-in-law as a surprise gift.  He owns an original one that, unfortunately, is rusting and wasting away in front of his house.

Anyhoo, here are some in progress pics of my starting point, beginning with the 454SS engine from VCG Resins by Reese.  Excellent quality too.  Also adding some extras as best as my skills will allow, looking to improve as I go along.

Still my all time fav truck body style. These OBS GMs are just perfect.

Looking forward to following your build.

Still my favorite too.  Lots of memories in those trucks.

Nice score on that Chevy 454SS  That VCG Resins engine looks pretty nice.

It definitely is nice.  It even has the plug holes already made in it.  anything that has a hose or wire attachment, has a hole already made for it.  I cannot emphasize the excellent quality of it, right down to the casting number on the manifolds.  He's definitely got my business, along with iceman collections.

Sounds like a good product.  Hard to beat the Iceman.

Long time for an update..

Made some good progress on the interior by adding the shift lever, tilt steering stalk and turn signal stock.  I mixed up a custom batch of the interior, which I think is fairly close to the subject I'm copying.  I added some differentiation to the interior using different acrylic clears from vallejo. Unfortunately, I found out that the engine I got from VCG doesn't fit into this version of the C1500...it's too big!  I'll just have to get the latest version of it and make my own 454!

Sweet! Will be following. Built one in 2022 , and have one in its box. and as mentioned, also my fav body style Chevy!

I noticed on the engine in the kit is the size of a Chevy 350 which I don’t believe them to be.

o and I made a light bezel so you can put clear glass lights on it if you like.
