Dave Van Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 RUMOR......RUMOR....has it at Lindberg when R2 bought all their tooling. Only 2-3 people at R2 know for sure.

Bottom line is it seems to be flip flopping back and forth as to who's got what. So the questions still remain. Who DOES have what and what is its status???? Way back on March 13, 2010, someone named "Pete" started a thread here on the Stage Ghost. He stated that he was from Atlantis Model Company and that they had all of the "tools" for the kit with the exception of the chrome tree and the instructions. He asked whether someone could send him the tree and instructions so that Atlantis could do a "special run" of the Stage Ghost. A few on the thread pointed out that the chrome tree was shared by several kits in the Pyro line - including The Serpent. Some back and forth for a few years on this thread and it seemed that the consensus was that the chrome mold did in fact exist. Flash forward to 2017 and The Serpent is re-issued. Flash forward to 2021 and: still no Stage Ghost; "Pete" is listed as "Deleted Member" with 0 posts. Did he delete his own account or was he "deleted"? Was/is he a legit employee at Atlantis or was he just someone trying to obtain chrome parts and instructions? Given all of this: does anyone have any intel on the re-issuing of the Stage Ghost? Are we any closer to seeing it today than we were 11 years ago? (if we really were close 11 years ago). Can anyone confirm with 100% certainty that the molds really do exist? Dave Van Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 The thing is R2 has the chassis tooling as they issued Cobra/Serpent kit which contains the same chassis as Stage. At this point....who knows. If Atlantis OR R2 has the majority of tooling I'd be more than happy to help in any way. I gave Monogram my dragon wagon to copy........done it with a few others......but I do not think any one is willing to chance it.....IE investing in a Stage kit. Thanks

The guy who owns Atlantis is a "Pete"... Round2 did sell off a bunch of old tools to Atlantis at one point a few years ago, neither company is ever going to admit exactly what they bought/sold, nor commit to what actual inventory they have. Although the Serpent was reissued under the Lindberg name, and that means Round2 owns that tooling still at the very least.
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I just can't see that putting money into tooling for stage Ghost makes no sense. Round2 and Atlantis both have much better things to put their resources into. And those projects will just have a better return. If anything maybe one of the 3d printers could offer a body for the Stage Ghost. Although not sure what that might entail for licensing.
Mark Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Stage Ghost body looks way undersize for 1/16 scale. A Raiders' Coach body would probably be "close enough"...

If you place the Pyro Stage body next to the Lindberg scale 1/16 stage coach body, YES the Pyro is undersize. But most showrods are undersize. The Famous Beer Wagon by TD is almost 1/32 scale!!! The Raiders stage body itself is a little undersize so would look really bad on a 1/16 model. If people are really interested I can pull all 3 bodies and show side by side........but I am off to the NASCAR race soon so it will be next week.....IF any one cares to see it. Thx

However when you take into consideration it's an original sealed kit it is more than likely a collector will be the market. Not sure that would translate into enough sales. Not sure my eyes were watering when I searched the site but my tongue was drooling.. Call me a fool ?°° wait..what did my wife say about that? Anyway it is rare and it appears to be in very good condition so in my honest opinion it's worth it. If its on someones must have list it is a no brainer. When will the next one as nice come along? Definitely not priced for a resale. I just laid out a little more for another vintage kit last week. If it was on my list I'd snatch it up. You only live once! ?
bobthehobbyguy Posted October 29, 2023 Posted October 29, 2023 I agree with everything you say. And yes if you are looking for a specific kit and can afford the price then by all means by it. 1
