I would love me some chippies. Like I have said, we have seen just 1 around. The north shore, everyone has them in abundance.

I helped my buddy re-home some rabbits recently. They were digging holes in the middle of his back lawn, this guy is a bug about his yard. It took a while to trap the 2nd one, we took them over the bay bridge where they will have lots of company. I have 2 and they are happy with eating my clover.

We have apparently switched over to self-service. I didn't get the memo but chip filled me in with repeated demonstrations.

Brave man having that dish of peanuts in your lap with your little furry friend.

This hasn't had an update for quite some time so thought I'd say something.

This time of year it's been fun to see the squirrels fatten up a bit and that means they demand more food. I toss out an assortment of seeds every day. The birds benefit too. There are usually 4,5,6 squirrels at a time. There have been 8 a few times. Today I counted 10! Might be getting a little out of hand. 🤨

Good save Tony, gotta keep it going even if there's no styrene involved..🤔°° Although years ago I remember we had a plastic squirrel mounted on I think a piece of wood. It had some type of gray flocking to simulate the fur. I would love to know who manufactured it.

Back to real Squirrels, I still have anywhere from 2 to 10 that visit daily. More of them will now take a nut from me via pinched fingers but some are still leery so those get unsalted shelled peanuts. The ones who except the nuts via hand gets unshelled pecans and walnuts. Any scraps leftover are devoured by the birds.

As for my little chipmunk buddy, I'm in hopes that he hibernated early and not became a statistic. He went MIA early in the season...🤞

Right now squirrels are on my 💩 list. Have a bird feeder on the back deck doors of the house that I've had for years. Now this year the squirrels have taken to climbing up the back door and hanging off the top plate to jump into the feeder. In the process they are tearing up the back door frame taking large chunks out of it. Needless to say I took the feeder down last week. This morning a squirrel climbed up the back of the door anyway to find there wasn't a feeder. Guess his eyesight isn't very good.

From what I've read about squirrels, they have excellent vision with the exception of directly in front at close range. Unlike humans squirrels have two types of functioning photoreceptors, called cone cells, in the eyes. Organisms with dichromacy are called dichromats. Dichromats require only two primary colors to be able to represent their visible gamut. dichromatic colour vision that is mediated by green and blue cones.

At least it would look from the tracks that they survived the fall and scampered away.
