Vettegasser Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 (edited) So I got the 70 vette amt reissued. Well in my opinion the only good part in it was the body and wheels. So I did this. It’s on a very rearranged amt nascar chassis Edited November 13, 2023 by Vettegasser 3
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 (edited) That's really cool...definitely something you don't see every day. Edited November 13, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy
TarheelRick Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Going to be an interesting project to follow. I have seen pictures of short track Vettes, so it is not an inconceivable build.
Vettegasser Posted November 13, 2023 Author Posted November 13, 2023 Here’s the cut up - scratch built frame. 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 That frame looks really good. What exact kit did it start out as?
Vettegasser Posted November 13, 2023 Author Posted November 13, 2023 (edited) Well it started as an amt lumina nascar. Basically you can tell what’s left of that. It’s got Ron coon resins rear clip. Whole lotta evergreen tubing. It’s getting there Edited November 13, 2023 by Vettegasser
Pierre Rivard Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Wonderful stuff Jimmy. It is great to see out of the box, imaginative yet very realistic fictional builds such as your's. You started with a cool idea but you then "engineer" it like a real race car. I love this and will follow with great interest.
Vettegasser Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 Thanks all. I try to make them as realistic as possible. Try to get some more to show this weekend
dust collectors Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 This is awesome! Makes me want to build a frame for my Pontiac. Nice work!
Vettegasser Posted November 21, 2023 Author Posted November 21, 2023 Life’s getting in the way. Work is wide open. Thanks for all the encouraging comments.
Vettegasser Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 Not much bench time lately. Got the suspension finalized. Started on interior tin 1
Vettegasser Posted April 2, 2024 Author Posted April 2, 2024 Well it’s been a minute since I’ve posted anything with the vette so. We’ve got a complete frame in paint. Ready to detail paint. Body has a rear spoiler is in primer ready to paint 1
Volzfan59 Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 (edited) I remember back in the 80's when some of the fiberglass companies were making Corvette bodies for late model dirt cars. A guy from Bruce, MS (Jerry Inman #D-7) ran one for a season or two. Your's is an excellent representation of that era. Edited April 2, 2024 by Volzfan59 Added a picture
Sledsel Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I will admit the headline caught my eye! This is a very cool build. Just love what you are doing with it! Way better than my slammer Saturday night cars I like to build.
Pierre Rivard Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Wow, it looks fantastic. Really worth the wait.

Vettegasser Posted April 7, 2024 Author Posted April 7, 2024 Noticed in that last pic body wasn’t back far enough to where it actually goes. Wheels are centered
