Madhatter Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 hey everyone I've been a bit quite on the forum content lately due to a lack of mojo but I am slowly but definitely coming out of it This is one of 3 projects (4 if you count the on-going SD build) that I've had on the back burner and this one in particular has given me such a headache. Not because of the quality of the kit - far from it. What you're seeing in front of you is the 6th and final paint job. Yes, I stripped it back to bare resin 5 times prior to now because of various paint malfunctions caused by myself various paint issues (lifting mostly) and some outright clumsiness. But, it's done and I can now concentrate on finalising my first scratch built space fighter as well as my 1/350 Bismarck. Once they're done, I MIGHT go back to the mind numbing task of threading fibers. So, that's it really. Its a great kit, goes together beautifully as you would expect! As always, thanks for stopping in and having a look See you all soon Si 10 1
Roger U Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 (edited) That's a really nice looking model and a beautiful paint job. Edited November 27, 2023 by Roger U 1
XYHARRY Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Your persistence paid off, simply stunning. Well done Simon. Cheers, David. ?? 1
Madhatter Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 Thanks, everyone, for the encouraging posts. These pictures do not really do the colour any justice. It was a cloudy day today but in the sun, this looks so much different. I'll take some better pics when the sun comes back out in a few days
ncbuckeye67 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 That is beautiful! Your hard work and patience paid off. 1
Hi-Po Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Beautifully done with great paint work and detailing. 1
happy grumpy Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Obviously, you definitely nailed the last paint job because it looks like the real deal. Your hard work paid off. Great looking car. 1
70 Sting Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Like Spike said above! ? Wish those kits weren't so expensive. 1
Madhatter Posted November 27, 2023 Author Posted November 27, 2023 thank you guys I had it looking way better than this at one point but being true to myself, I somehow managed to ingrain a massive glue thumb print into the roof AND the bonnet - completely ruining it. It very nearly became the first ever Ferrari jet car but I reined in the disappointment and rage and started again. Yes, they are very expensive and quite the limiting factor for many - me included. Still, I'd like to have bought the Alfa Romeo Quadrafoglia before they stopped making them. Same for the Mclaren 720. Oh well, that's life
Chuckyg1 Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 I really like this. Great build. I keep going back to soak up all the interior and engine details. Great paint work. 1
Madhatter Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 thanks fellas. I forgot to take pics of the interior with the seat belts attached but everyone can guess what they'd look like: seat belts
Madhatter Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 The sun just came out, so I took the opportunity to take a couple of pics to really show just how nice the colour actually is. 1
kelson Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Beautiful!!, have a couple of their kits in my stash,my only real complaint with their kits is the tires always just seem a little undersized to me. 1
