Oregon says, Hi!

Long time builder, first build-in-progress post. I'm coming aboard from another forum, so I'm actually re-posting. I look forward to any and all feedback. I'm probably 60% along, but I will start from the start for my own sense of cohesion. So forgive the photo onslaught.  But again, comment on anything for the "I may try that next time" file. I still have many things to try and I want to improve with each build (money and space considering).

Body Work  I really wanted to follow all the tips I collected over time to produce a really nice build. I was pleased with my first attempt at body modifications. I chiseled off the wipers and scribed the window frame for future PE parts.

Interior

I'm going more towards fine detail and craftsmanship rather the an original or realistic approach. There's a difference, right?

  • BMF on center console
  • WOW embossing powder for flooring. First time using that.
  • Liquid Chrome pen (first use) on glove box, radio, seat backs and steering wheel. I used MM WOOD for the wheel.  Wish it was darker. With I could do a cool wood grain effect.
  • On the dash and gauges I wanted the "glass" effect. Tried clear super glue, Mod Podge (first try) and white glues. The dash was all one chrome piece, no decals.  Added some black wash.

Looking good Calvin. I like that color on it!? Since you asked for feedback…I would only use panel liner on things that open, like the hood, doors and trunk. Other body seams are usually not as visible.

Welcome aboard, your paint job turn nice and that’s not common with rust oleum. I wouldn’t put any clear on top. And nice painted stripe also!

Not giving up yet. I've taken it down with 1000 grit for the nasty stuff.  Trying not to get down to the stripes or decals.

I don't want to strip ot or buy another so I will do my best and finish the project. I still have other new things to try and plenty more ways to screw it up. Cheers.

Can't tell from pics but tub fits fine. I wish the carpet were blacker and the column gauges clearer.

I went with a Gopher Racing pre wired distributor. First time using add on. Came out Ok. I was over cautious when trimming so the cables might be too long.

usually on a SBF, the spark plug wires run over the valve covers image.png.9772a67da88fb9eefe64933c9ec6fbcd.png

I'd see how hard it is to pull one of the plug wires out of the head before I made that decision. There might be enough room to re-position the wires over  the valve covers and hide the excess under the air cleaner. Any time I am doing something new, I Google pictures to see how it was from the factory.

Looking good.

I'd leave 'em this go round. You can chalk it up to how far you come and each build is a step further.

I looked for pics found this one and went for it. It was my same color scheme so...

Could have looked for a better angle.
