ewetwo Posted December 17, 2023 Author Posted December 17, 2023 Thank you Donato. And a Merry Christmas to you and yours. ?
disconovaman Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I have this kit also and I'm planning it out now... Silver was one of my ideas for color choice... great minds ? I'm not sure what color it will be finally but I may use the decals from the Snap Firebird, they look pretty funky and may fit the vibe. The FBG's have weighed in and the consensus is that the kit is deemed un-buildable. You have proved them wrong my friend. ? The Boxart on the HOTROD series from 88 was more inspiring to me, something about the way it's angled and photgraphed. The kit has been reissued a few times in gunmetal grey, orange, and dark green. I wish the lime green graphics were included in this one like the ones in the Motorworks kit. I'm excited to get this one started. Thanks for the motivation!
Zippi Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Pretty kewl looking 79 Pontiac Firebird. I always liked this body style.
ewetwo Posted December 18, 2023 Author Posted December 18, 2023 Thank you Anthony and Bob. Anthony. I agree with the green color combo. I just knew I wasn't going to do yellow. If you have extra parts you can do a lot more to this kit. The exhaust pipes were a pain. Why they were in 2 pieces I do not know. And I wasn't going to add the decals because I'm horrible with them. Notice around the door handles. And there was a tin piece of decal connected to the side decal that was suppose to go across the top of the side vent. But that didn't work out for me. And the photo on the box shows the decal going up to the top of the stack opening but the instructions showed they started at the bottom of it. Maybe starting at the bottom would have looked better. 1
Sledsel Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 Came out pretty nice, what paint is that? I love the flake in it.

It's Rustoleum "Paint For Plastic" Universal Silver on Duplicator Primer. I used the cheaper Duplicator Primer and it didn't come out well. Actually etched the plastic a bit. So I primed it with the more expensive Duplicator Primer and it came out ok.
ewetwo Posted December 19, 2023 Author Posted December 19, 2023 Is this basically the same kit? Just different hood?
