curt raitz Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Not my normal build, but the theme for this years NNL West was "Rats n Cats"...so I picked up the new Revell 32 sedan kit and started making it ugly. I chopped the top, channeled the body, grafted a '37 ford truck chassis, spring perch for front suspension, Replicas & Miniature seats and exhaust headers, etc... Paint is Duplicolor black primer covered in Testor's Dullcote with a heavy coat of Rustall brushed on. Added rust detail with Tamiya's detail powders I did enjoy straying away from the shiny stuff... thanx for lookin'
fordh8r Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 What a great build Curt! I remember seeing this at the NNL because I commented to my friend about the shift knob and how it just makes me wanna shift......... a lot! I really wanna try my hand at such a build and I know this may sound crazy but I fear I'll screw up the rust finish. With a little more time and space on the bench I will try. I'm also into some major projects on my 1:1 rigs right now so I've had little to no time for indoor fun. It was a pleasure to meet you and Raul, along with some others, while we were there at the NNL, great show too BTW.
randx0 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I love the car Curt, can you imagine driving that around here in Minnesota in January?

Yeah I couldn't find a skull head or grenade, but remembered the "boobie" shifters from the late 60's so what the heck, made a resin casting of a Phoenix Phollies female figures' upper torso and away we go... thus creating the personalized license plate...
lonewolf Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Nice plate Curt. Took me a minute to wrap my head around what it was. Great job overall.
Raul_Perez Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 You just gotta love the Fred Flintstone floorboards, too!! Great build, my old friend!! It looks like you're ready to help me build my next train layout with those new weathering skills you've developed!! Later,

hossalimi Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Curt, This was also one of my favorites (aside from the Bronco!) at the NNL West. I should share this little story with everyone. I told Curt at the show how much I liked one of his models (a Ford Bronco with a little weathering) and asked him if I could add it to my collection. Well, to my surprise, I get a package in the mail yesterday from Curt and sure enough, it is the Ford Bronco!! I have to say that Curt made my day, heck my whole week!! Thanks a lot man!! I think I really like the 32 Ratter as well Next thing you know, I'll be getting another package from you!!! Anyway, I'll catch up with you and make things even for your troubles when I see you at the SVSM. Later!!
Raul_Perez Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 ...I have to say that Curt made my...whole week!! I sure am glad that you spelled that correctly!! Otherwise I'd really be worried about two of my best friends!!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Cranky's proud!!! I love it. Those green accents against the rust are way WAY WAY WAY cool!!! Congrats!
carrucha Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Cool beater rod. Good job weathering the model. Very good work detailing the flathead. carrucha
