Sonorandog Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 I finished this kit a couple weeks ago. For such a simple kit it was a lot of work and gave me some issues. But overall I’m happy with it. It was a fun little project. Not having wheels I had to make a stand for. I built this one for a friend, but I bought two kits at the same time so the second attempt at this kit will be for me. Hopefully, I will have learned from my mistakes and do a better job next time around. I did not put much effort into the interior, but I had to do something. I knew it would never be seen, but it did not feel right to ignore it. 7
karbuildr Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Nice. I remember the movie, your build looks good to me. Good job on the stand.
Sonorandog Posted February 1, 2024 Author Posted February 1, 2024 Thank you everyone for the nice comments. I am happy with it. It’s just that it’s a classic problem. Whenever you’re finished with something all you see is what didn’t go right instead of what worked.
Bainford Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 Cool submersible Lotus. Nice work. Given the questionable water-tightness of a Lotus, it should probably be equipped with a dry-suit. I have wondered what this kit was like. I am about 95% through the Esprit with wheels. I know what you mean by seeing all the flaws on a completed build. I am the same way. The more work I put into them, the more I am displeased with the outcome, despite the fact it is a much improved over the previous build. I can only see the mistakes or imperfections. The good part is that after a few months on the shelf, I tend to forget about those flaws and can enjoy the finished build on the shelf.
LennyB Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Nice to see a buildup of this. I thought about getting one. The real one is currently on display at the Saratoga Auto Museum in New York. 1
XYHARRY Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Your friend should be very pleased, well done Steve. Cheers, David. ??
Sonorandog Posted February 5, 2024 Author Posted February 5, 2024 Thanks everyone. My next build will have actual wheels and tires!
Sonorandog Posted February 8, 2024 Author Posted February 8, 2024 I have a mini Bond museum waiting to be built. Minus the Proteus.

I started the Moonraker Space Shuttle years ago, never got far and not sure what ever happened to the kit. Lost somewhere in the attic.
David G. Posted February 10, 2024 Posted February 10, 2024 Nicely done! I love the stand you made too. David G.
Gustavo Reis Posted February 13, 2024 Posted February 13, 2024 Very nice model, I love the Bond cars, as a sugestion to increase your collection, some of my models.
Sonorandog Posted February 14, 2024 Author Posted February 14, 2024 That’s a good looking collection of vehicles.
