Drivers side fuel tank coming together. Next up, paint frame brakets black, glue straps in place. Visor ready for final fit and trim. Grill was stripped and all the burgers removed and rechromed. IMG_1857.jpeg.2b8e1cc1f0c3f312ef0cac2799d1f41d.jpeg

nice job on a great kit!

Concerning the fuel tanks:

I always use cable ties as straps for round tanks. Works pretty well!

There are so many sizes to choose from so you're bound to find the right ones!

I always use the 3.6mm width.

Maybe it helps!

Yes, the wider tires I think look better. The fuel tanks are just kicking my ………t. Needed to put the straps on in segments and just couldn’t get them aligned, so I am scratch build a third set of tanks with a slightly longer tank and new mounts. Trying out a couple building techniques on the tank mounts/straps.

OK, I see, you don't really need ideas! That's a beautiful solution! ?

With those wide front tires it’s looking like a nice Michigan heavy hauler.

Thanks Victor, was kinda the plan and fit in my fleet.

Getting some bench time today with rain and cold. First clean up bench to figure out where I left off, second, decide on a trailer. I have one drop deck and  one flat bed (running out of trailer kits, need to restock I guess). Going with the flat bed, maybe some ten hole wheels and a wood bed. And yes the truck is not done yet but couldn’t help myself.

Sounds like a good plan!

Shows how prices have risen, sadly affecting our hobbies

Agree Jeff, after I seen the price tag, I got to looking at some other older kits I have, the one that surprised me was the GMC Cabover tractor with a price tag just under 15 bucks. Not sure what the new GMC Astro sells for these days.

I haven't seen that trailer built for a while. Looking forward to seeing you put it together.

Well Steve, already went over the edge on the build, will use the trailer suspension, main frame rails and Dollie’s. But am going to correct the length to a true 40 foot, so will be remaking the floor/bed so that I can have a real wood floor. Also found some 10 hole wheels and larger tires. Post up later today.

The trailer bogies are somewhat together, need to adjust the axle heights yet. I added a height gage to my collection of tools to help me get the axles at the same height. Nothing worse than scratch building a trailer to find one wheel hanging in the air when completed. IMG_1879.jpeg.266591f7de48ee41233255127b92a602.jpegIMG_1878.jpeg.6a838d1e5b89452e619a7fced891ff3f.jpeg
