Allan31 Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I'm new here but thought I would post some of my previous builds. Reworked AMT 935, 1/24 scale. Inspired by an article that appeared in MRRN, I changed the rear flares with Bondo, corrected the shape of the uprights for the rear wing, new rear wing reshaped from a ruler, vac-formed the glass areas and finished up with a Cady decal sheet and pinched what ever else i needed from other sheets. All rear plumbing done with aluminum tubing. MRRN was a terrific source for our tiny niche of modelers. I have the complete set somewhere but I've yet to find the box I packed them in.....humph...... 8
TonyK Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Always liked this car and I like your model of it too.
Yeah Nah Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 Wow! Your workmanship is second to none Allan. Even if the subject matter is not my cup of tea, there's no denying your modelling skills!
Phildaupho Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Hard to beat a MOMO livery on any racing car and your Porsche looks especially good. I built an AMT 935 many years ago and found it to be surprisingly OK.
Chinacar Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 The weathering is spot on in this build! I aspire to be able to weather as goos as this. Beautiful build!
Pierre Rivard Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 I did not know the AMT kit could be made to look so good but I suspect your modifications and upgrades to be quite substantial. I don't know how you did the race weathering but it is very effective and realistic looking.
1959scudetto Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Good-looking Porsche, Allan - never saw one in momo livery. MRRN was/is a great source of information/inspiration (I too have all of them somewhere)
Rattlecan Dan Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Beautiful build and super detailing. What a great job! Thanks for posting.
Dave Van Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 Well done build!! I like that kit. KINDA curbside and simple it can be made to look good. The kit started out as a Japanese kit, sold to ESCI. RC2 bought ESCI and used the 935 kit twice. A while back AMT asked if I had any mint kits as they wanted to find the tooling. They never found it and a year laterItlaeri issued it. Somehow it ended up there.
