Scott Eriksen Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 ..............starting the trailer to team up with the Transtar II ...........MAJOR warpage ! ...........I need a bigger table and more MCW paint ! 1
Gary Chastain Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 Wow, that looks long on the bench. By the way, you can never have enough room to work ??? 1
Scott Eriksen Posted February 18, 2024 Author Posted February 18, 2024 .................got it squared up ,, have to clean up some boogers and maybe shoot the primer tomorrow ....I don't have enough Chrysler Engine Red and Antique Silver left so I had to order more from MCW ,,should have it in a week or so 3
Rockford Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 You could move in once you're finished, sell the house. I suppose this is where the car modellers win, you don't need a warehouse to display them. 1
gotnitro? Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 I experienced the same dilemma during the lockdown, doing a group build w the 53 ft trailer..where to put this ! Fun build though Seems small now next to my 1/350 CVN76 Wip.. 1
Scott Eriksen Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 I got the paint in from MCW,,, I will probably finish the Motown Missile 1st then go back on this...........not enough room!
vincen47 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Love the IH livery. It’ll look fantastic. 1
cifenet Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 (edited) That is one long trailer! I am thinking painting is going to be challenging, but I have faith you will pull it off fine. Edited February 29, 2024 by cifenet 1
vincen47 Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 It’s too bad nobody makes a drop frame van. It could be crafted from the Moebius kits, but that would be a major modification project. 1
Firebuilder Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 That is huge , with a tractor you will need a big shelf! Looks good so far. 1
Scott Eriksen Posted March 8, 2024 Author Posted March 8, 2024 ..................primed and painted the white and Antique Silver,,the lower sill is painted higher to match the level of the silver on the Transtar , wait a few days then shoot the red 2
Scott Eriksen Posted March 9, 2024 Author Posted March 9, 2024 (edited) ............shot the red,,,not too much bleed thru, I expected more with all the rivets, little touch up here and there,,,,, next is paint the underside flat black,,IH decals and stripes, then nail on the suspension, landing gear and lights Edited March 9, 2024 by Scott Eriksen 3
Scott Eriksen Posted March 12, 2024 Author Posted March 12, 2024 ........started decaling,,,,,,,,I made my own decals with Ink Jet decal paper I got on Amazon.... found a vintage IH Farmall add on the web so I used that ,,, have to hit it with Micro Sol yet. I ran out of Microscale white pinstripes so I ordered those ...once all the decals are on then shoot the clear 1
Jürgen M. Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 Beautiful trailer, nice decals! Did you use white decal paper? I made the experience that you can't make white backgrounds on transparent decal paper. Or is there a trick?

Jürgen M. Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 OK. Thanks! I got the transparent sheets for laser jets. Works fine but for white backgrounds I'll have to get white decal paper! ? 1
Jürgen M. Posted March 18, 2024 Posted March 18, 2024 (edited) I also put clear coat on top. Keeps em from wrinkling and peeling off. That's really excellent work on that trailer. Very neat job! If you want to avoid bleed through then first apply one layer of the color underneath the masking. That will fill the gaps unseen and allow almost perfect lines especially If you have an uneven surface like like nuts or structured reefer walls. Not that yours aren't already close to perfect! ? Scott Eriksen Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 ...........bounced off the Diamond Reo and back on this,,,shot the clear,,,good thing I have ventilation! Installed the tandems and landing gear ,,,run the air bag and brake hoses next

I used some fairly large decals on mine and found taking a new #11 blade and poking a hole next to the rivets and soaking each with a drop of decal solution the decal settles right around the rivet and pushes the little bit of air out. 1

I had no problem with that with using Microsol, what I was referring to was I make my own decals with an Inkjet printer and after printing I spray the paper with Tamiya flat clear to set the ink
Scott Eriksen Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 She's done ,lights,tires/wheels,mudflaps,airlines,,,,,too long to fit in my display case hooked to the Transtar though! ...........I need to put another deckplate on the tractor too 1
