The car was designed by Jimmy English not by Trevor Fiore who is sometimes mentioned as the designer. The low roof line, the concave hood or the big panel at the rear would got his approval. Initially a 6 cylinder BLMC engine was planed, but British Leyland didn't supply the engine therefore an Austin Maxi 1500 cc 4 cylinder was used.
