Jonathan
Little background - my long-suffering wife gave me this kit ages ago because she liked the white on red. But, at the time, I was hesitant to start the kit, because my success with white finishes has been less than stellar So, trying to decide the best hobby paint for "Chevrolet Bombay Ivory", I primed the model with Tamiya white primer. Following some discussion in the Model Building Questions and Answers section, I shot a few coats of Tamiya Racing White TS-7 over it and here we are. Guess I'll finish it, because of course I should start another project! Thanks to everyone who provided some insight into possible solutions to "what color is it really?" Rattlecan Dan
Looks like that was the color you were looking for. Good luck with the rest of the build.
maxwell48098
Sure would be nice to see Round 2 re-release the 1957 after seeing all of the 1955's released over and over again. A.J.
Zippi
That's looking mighty fine there Jonathan. The white looks really nice. I've built a couple of these kits.

I hope so - we'll see how it looks after I polish it. Did you do anything regarding the void under the cab? Or just leave it as is? (I'm probably going to leave it for the sake of not getting bogged down)
Can-Con
Jonathan, did you get the correct rear box piece and tail lights on there? There's 2 different tail pieces and 2 different pairs of tail lights in the kit. I didn't notice until too late and had to rip it apart and swap them out. 🥴

I caught that - thankfully.
Jonathan
Not much of an update, but I did polish out the paint today. Burned though the spears on the hood a little bit, but I think (hope) I can salvage that. Maybe I can finish the red trim tomorrow
Jonathan
Well, on the positive side, I'm actually pretty happy with the color. But, there are a lot of thin spots, and I really, really botched my masking job this time! I can probably polish off the red over-spray, but the over all inconsistency in the paint thickness is apparent in the white. I'm thinking I may strip this one. Thanks for that - it does seem straightforward to fix. 4 hours ago, Can-Con said: ,,, plus the foot wells at the doors. Oh, that looks nice! Really appreciate the visual. But the OP didn't want to get bogged down that's why I said it "can be just a U shaped piece" which to me would be better than the gaping hole that AMT gave us.
